These are the spaces we can explore together. I bring nearly 15 years in mental health experience – from work with refugees abroad to trauma, sexuality, LGBTQ2IA+, neurodivergence, disability, and chronic health care. It takes courage to seek and begin therapy, and I value and respect that. I am passionate about working with all people, however they choose to identify themselves. I work with adults, young to old. I consider each individual as a "world unto themself"; I work with your goals, your spark, your way. My goal is to help you find the tools to move towards what you most want. I'm on your side. I draw from therapies such as solution focused, trauma based, CBT and ACT. Possibility lies in the present - what we do, how we choose to act, alone and with others - this is the arena of change.

I like to use puzzles as an analogy or a metaphor to describe our lived experiences. Sometimes it is just difficult to put a puzzle by yourself. There are things you are worried about, you are fearful to think of, or something you have not discovered yet. I am here to help you place the pieces together to understand yourself better. Although it may take some time, or it may not be perfect, you are not alone. You want to find a way to redefine yourself, but you do not know where to begin with or feel drained to try.

Hello:) I support folks experiencing a variety of challenges including anxiety, depression, grief & loss, life transitions, bipolarity, trauma/PTSD, low self-esteem, and challenges with communication & emotion regulation. We all possess an inherent understanding of our needs, but often past experiences create barriers, making it difficult to access this knowledge leading to unhelpful patterns and a feeling of being stuck. During our sessions, I’ll stand beside you as an ally, offering support and collaboration as you reconnect with this inner knowledge.

I do not believe in pathologizing individuals based on their diagnoses, symptoms, or challenges. Instead, I approach therapy as a collaborative and compassionate process, recognizing that healing happens within the context of trust and connection. To support this, I offer a no-commitment consultation to explore whether I am the right fit to support you on your journey. The most effective therapy is built on a secure and trusting relationship, and I deeply value the opportunity to walk alongside those who invite me into their healing process.

You might look like you're holding it together, but inside, things feel heavier, more complicated, or harder to untangle than they should. Maybe you've tried to figure it out, push through, or make changes... but the same patterns keep showing up in your relationships, your reactions, or how you feel about yourself. If you are curious about whether this feels like a good fit, I offer a free 60-minute consultation so we can talk through what's going on and what you're looking for.

Schema Therapy Counsellors
How does schema therapy work?
Schema therapy is based on the idea that maladaptive thought patterns formed in childhood—that other people can never be relied on, for example—can interfere with healthy functioning in adulthood. Accordingly, schema therapy works by directly targeting such unhealthy schemas, identifying their consequences, and replacing them with more adaptive ways of thinking. To this end, schema therapists aim to “reparent” the client by offering what they didn’t get in childhood—validation, for instance, or compassion—to reorient their worldview.

Is schema therapy evidence-based?
Schema therapy is still considered relatively new, and research on its efficacy is still in progress. However, some studies have concluded that it can be effective at treating certain mental health conditions, most notably personality disorders such as borderline personality disorder. Evidence for its efficacy in treating conditions like depression, anxiety, PTSD, and OCD is promising but less conclusive, and experts warn that much of the existing research is of low quality.

Is schema therapy a type of CBT?
Schema therapy is based on many principles of CBT, most notably the process of recognising and challenging maladaptive thought patterns. But because schema therapy also draws from other approaches, including psychoanalysis and Gestalt therapy, it is not considered a form of CBT. It also typically delves deeper into the client’s childhood than does CBT.

How does schema therapy work?
Schema therapy does not call for a set number of sessions and is instead open-ended, with the treatment timeline depending on the client’s primary concern(s), progress, and preferences. Treatment that lasts between six months and two years is common, though many clients will start to see progress much earlier than that.
