This may be your relationship with yourself or others, your daily experience of anxiety, depression or eating issues, your struggle in making sense of your past, or the ongoing effects trauma.
At times when we seek counselling, we aren’t totally sure what the ‘problem’ is, we just know our current realities don’t feel fully fulfilling. Other times, we can identify what the ‘issue’ may be, but feel stuck around how to move forward. Counselling therapy is effective in both scenarios, and works to bring both insight and solutions into an individual’s life. Many people looking for a counsellor are seeking a change in their lives, at times wondering if a different reality is possible. Let’s use our time together to bridge the gap between your current reality and a more fulfilling future.

I've been working as a counsellor for about three years now and truly enjoy the opportunity to work with all clients hoping to develop a stronger sense of self and/or work through various life challenges. I have a particular interest in life transitions such as graduation, career change, or the end of a relationship (as well as depression and anxiety). I see great power in identifying core values, areas of strength and areas for growth. I use this knowledge to help clients create positive change change. These unique times require a unique mindset and I'm here to help clients find adaptable solutions that work for them.

Hi, my name is Makita and I’m happy to see you chose to come to my page. I work with youth, adults, seniors, and couples, who are interested in learning to cope with life’s challenges. This includes anxiety, stress, depression , relationship issues, anger, feeling overwhelmed or burnt out. My clients are looking for and need a supportive therapist who can sit with them during their lowest points, be bold and honest with them during their denials and can offer practical tools they can utilize outside of the therapy room. Their goal is to feel better because they want better for themselves and their situations.

Hi and thank you looking at my profile. I work mostly out of a strengths-based perspective which means that when we talk about the things you want to change in your life, I'm not only considering what you struggle with but also all the things that you're great at. In my experience, we all have skills and tools that we might not be aware of and part of my role is to uncover them with you. In some cases, we might also want to add to your toolkit to give you more options to deal with life's challenges. In the past, I've helped clients work through depression , anxiety, grief and loss, life transitions, communication skills, and trauma.

Through the years I've witnessed successful results when treating: anxiety, depression and mood disorders, substance use and addictions, identity issues and personality disorders, eating disorders, sexual identity and sexual orientation issues, PTSD, adolescence issues and middle life crisis, grief and loss, co-dependency, couple's conflicts and parenting issues.
Based on the belief that "we all have our own answers" I focus my efforts to provide a professional, non judgmental and non critical space where people can safely engage in a process of self reflection and discovery through which they can increase their self awareness and learn how to access their own answers and solutions to a wide range of mental health concerns and challenging life situations.

It was through her own personal journey that Trish came to find her expertise as a Somatic Psychotherapist; helping individuals, couples and families step into balance, health and connection so that they can live in joy, vibrancy and passion! After full recovery from a skiing accident that had her in a wheel chair for months, she began to feel uptight all the time, depressed , had unhealthy eating patterns, an autoimmune diagnosis, and disconnect in her marriage. She had forgotten all about joy, vibrance & passion or how to even reach for those things. If you have ever experienced these feelings & lack connection, Trish can help.

I offer short term and in depth counselling to address issues that make people/parents/children/youth feel stuck, ashamed, confused, guilty, depressed , worried, afraid or just curious and that might be preventing them from reaching a sense of fulfillment, self efficacy & control in their lives.

Depression Counsellors
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy by depression counsellors in New Westminster. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
