The irony is that the things that make us feel most alone actually connect us. At our very core, we crave connection over what we as humans all have in common...life, and with that, the harsh realities and all the joy, grief, fear, confusion, love, chaos, etc. In our therapeutic relationship, I want to provide you with the freedom to be exactly who you are. I want to understand who that is, the people you care about, and what you want out of your time here - both in my office and in your life. Together we can work through inevitable blindspots and life's continuous challenges, to increase your connection to others and to yourself.

Do you have the sense that there is underlying pain that is preventing you from fully enjoying your life? Often, our unhelpful patterns originally evolved as strategies to meet needs, and to protect ourselves against overwhelming distress. My work aims to help you more effectively meet the needs behind these old, perhaps outdated strategies. Some of the issues that clients come to me for help with are: personal growth and alignment with life purpose; emotional regulation; emotional intimacy; anxiety and panic attacks; self-worth; and grief and loss (personal and collective).

Are you ready to make a change in your life? Have you reached a point of saying: "enough is enough"? I work with powerfully sensitive individuals who long to deepen their feeling of connection with themselves, their community, and the earth. They are full of potential, looking for ways to empower themselves and embody their gifts. This vibrant sensitivity can manifest in challenging ways that can express as anxiety, loneliness, depression, addiction, confusion, or frustration. They sense the future they wish to create for themselves, but don't quite know how to put the pieces together to get there.

As an Indigenous/mixed person, my life’s paths and experiences encouraged the sharing of my gifts so that I may be in service to others. I’m deeply connected to and inspired by ritual, ceremony, community, and the personal journey of walking the complex edges of life. With a trauma informed lens, I weaving relational somatic psychotherapy and grief work to be a gentle guide and advocate, to hold space and offer support for life's current and unexpected challenges.

I help clients move through life's difficulties . When relationships change, when we feel stuck in habits that take us away from what we really want. When we recognize the need to make peace with those aspects of the past that are holding us back from the life we wish to live . As a body-centred therapist working with trauma, I help you access the wisdom of your body, and learn how to reclaim a deeper calm, self regulated state, where you can update the limiting beliefs and emotional reactivity that often prevents the full expression of your potential. Our thoughts and thinking rarely give us a clear picture of the world

As a registered therapeutic counsellor, I use Somatic therapy to support clients in their process of connecting with themselves and processing trauma stored within the body. Somatic therapy is a body-centered therapy. It is a trauma-informed approach that works to regulate the nervous system, promotes embodiment, and provides individuals with the opportunity to connect with themselves in a new way. I use a combination of somatic therapy, person-centred counseling and empathetic listening to provide clients with a safe environment to begin their wellness journey.

I believe counselling can be a space where we can get to know our authentic selves, where many parts of ourselves can be explored and we can start to resist the boxes that may be confining us. I view counselling as a collaborative process and recognize each person’s natural ability to gravitate toward change at their own pace. The genuine connection of a counselling relationship in a safe enough and inclusive environment is often at the root of healing.

I specialise in working with clients who have built a strong identity around their athletic pursuits but are facing a fork in the road – an injury, loss, family responsibilities, loss of interest, burnout – that is causing them to take time away from activity and to question who they are, and who they will be, without this outlet. I offer a non-judgemental space to explore the questions that you might have arising, about what your life means now, moving through grief, and finding purpose.

‘Hearts are not the burdens they carry; but the burdens they carry can drive their extremes' (Richard Schwartz, 2018). There are times when we feel truly burdened: exhausted, confused, immobilized, distressed, anxious, in relationship discord or overwhelmed. As challenging as these experiences can be, we can grow our strength and courage in our willingness to approach them. I work with clients to assist in living with more calm, courage, compassion, meaning, and deep connection.

We are experiencing a paradigm shift in how we view, treat, and resolve mental health complexities. It is no longer sufficient to simply learn about our traumas and understand their origins to expect resolution. We are now approaching trauma from a psychobiological perspective, recognizing that trauma is physically embedded in the cells and tissues of our bodies. By developing our felt sense of these traumas, bringing focused attention to them, and utilizing somatic techniques, trauma resolution becomes achievable.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
Most Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are certified by one of the main professional associations, mainly the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), and will have a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC) designation with their name. Social Workers listed in the directory must be registered members of the college specific to their province. To be listed in the directory, Psychologists must be registered with the psychological college specific to their province or territory.
Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given the considerable variation in professional regulation and prerequisites across Canadian provinces, some providers may possess significant professional qualifications without necessarily holding professional memberships or being obliged to acquire them. As a result, they may be selectively included without the "Verified" seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?
Psychologists, counsellors, psychotherapists and social workers can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and supervised, practical experience that enable them to do so in Canada.
Psychologists have a master's and/or doctoral degree and have passed both written and oral exams. Psychologists are able to complete mental health assessments and provide diagnostic information to clients as well as provide counselling therapy or psychotherapy. Counsellors and psychotherapists are expected to have a master's or doctoral degree in counselling psychology, social work, or a related mental health discipline and certification by a professional association, such as the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Registered Social Workers possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work and where possible must be licensed or certified by the provincial government and/or regulatory college.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, the cost of a therapy session in Canada could be between $100 and $200. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. Some types of outpatient mental health services are covered by Medicare, provided these are performed by a licensed mental health professional in the provinces or territory you reside in and who accepts the assignment.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postal code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Professionals licensed by regulatory colleges and those certified by associations such as the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association are obligated to uphold client confidentiality unless there is a legal reason that requires them to disclose information. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there is the potential or known harm to the client or others, or a court order, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
