I truly think people, including kids and families, transcend the obstacles they encounter. I see their strengths and understand the hard parts they're going through. I follow a humanistic and creative approach to therapy, where we explore different sides of who they are and how they're growing. I firmly believe in creating a secure environment where individuals can freely express themselves and feel acknowledged. I use a gentle and empowering method to help clients on their journey, grow, and change.

I offer counselling in-person, online, and by phone.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, stuck in patterns that don’t make sense, or carrying past experiences that continue to impact you deeply, it can feel exhausting and isolating. At times, you may feel barely able to cope, while other times you may appear fine on the outside, with something underneath that feels heavy or hard to make sense of. I offer a supportive space where you don’t have to hold everything on your own. The focus is on creating an environment where you feel genuinely heard and where safety is tangibly felt.

Counselling services are available both in-person at my office and virtually during weekdays.
Everyone’s brain works differently, shaping how we experience emotions, manage daily demands, and navigate relationships, school, and work. For individuals with ADHD, autism, anxiety, or challenges with executive functioning and emotional regulation, everyday life can feel overwhelming, inconsistent, or exhausting at times despite clear capability and insight. These experiences often coexist with burnout, self-criticism, school or work-related stress, procrastination, and difficulties with motivation or daily functioning. Over time, this can interfere with personal goals, self-confidence, relationships, and overall wellbeing.

You may feel deeply and value meaningful connections, yet find yourself repeating the same relationship patterns. You might overthink interactions, question your worth, or feel anxious in relationships even when you care deeply about others. Many people I work with are thoughtful, emotionally aware individuals who want to better understand themselves and the patterns shaping how they connect with others and themselves. They may have insight into their struggles but still feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from their sense of self.

I offer in-person and online.
We all carry a backpack filled with rocks that are stamped with life’s experiences. It is with us wherever we go – on whichever road we choose. This backpack is filled with our identity...our life’s lessons... who we are…. At some point in our travels, we begin to feel its weight and the need to re-evaluate and lighten our burdens. The journey of healing can be overwhelming, however with support and understanding I believe we can courageously let go of unneeded rocks with compassion while embracing the life messages we need for balance.

Services available in person and online!
Many people who find their way to my practice have already tried therapy. They're insightful, capable, and functional, yet still feel shaped by old relational patterns, chronic self-doubt, or a sense that something unresolved keeps showing up despite their best efforts. The work I do invites people to slow down and look closely at how their inner world has been organized by relationships, long-standing adaptations, and nervous system patterns. This is not short-term therapy. Sessions are relational, reflective, and often require tolerating discomfort as familiar strategies soften and new ways of relating to yourself emerge.

Hey, I’m Alicia (she/her) — a Registered Clinical Counsellor who believes therapy should feel like a space where you can exhale. As a woman of colour, mother, partner, sibling and friend, I work from an anti-oppressive and harm reduction lens rooted in lived experience, not just textbooks. I work primarily with children and youth, while also supporting adults who are seeking meaningful change in their lives. Whether I’m sitting on the floor building Lego with a child, helping a teen make sense of overwhelming emotions, or walking alongside an adult navigating relationship or life transitions, my goal is the same: to create a space where you feel safe, understood, and genuinely supported. Therapy can be a place to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with your values and authentic self. Above all, I strive to offer a therapeutic relationship that feels collaborative, respectful, and empowering.

Do you struggle with feeling disconnected from yourself and others? Do you put your needs at the bottom of the to-do list? Do you wonder if old wounds limit your ability to show up fully in life? Now more than ever, individuals are feeling anxious, overwhelmed and uncertain about how they are supposed to manage their relationships, careers and their lives. Pushing away your needs and not taking time for yourself can lead to long-term issues for your mind and body, but there is hope and answers.

I believe that emotional support is what we need in the moments of uncertainty and instability in our lives. Having worked as a doula and supporting families in one of the most important moments in their lives helped me understand that having a support person is crucial. That’s one of the reasons I decided to become a counsellor, to be that person for people going through difficult times.

I have spent the last 20 years working with teenagers and children. I have been a coach, a mentor, a teacher, and now a counsellor. Building relationships has always been a priority in working with young people. Developing trust and offering them a place to feel safe, comfortable, and themselves is what I value most in my work. I often work with students dealing with relationship issues, loss, addictions, and anxiety. I am a drama trained educator and often use role play to support skill building and behavioural rehearsal.

The clients I work with understand that there is a spiritual thread that weaves beneath the surface of their lives, and they are seeking guidance on how to re-connect to this important aspect of who they are. I commonly work with fertility struggles, grief processing, depression, overwhelm, addictions, anxiety, relationship conflict, eating disorders, low self esteem, trust issues, and clients who are simply unhappy with the current state of their life. Ultimately, my clients are searching for balance between the mind, body and spirit aspects of self, which when in alignment, can lead to a heart-centered, joyful, fulfilling life.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
