I have taken AEDP, Attachment and CBT and
Mindfulness
training.
My deepest privilege is to come alongside you, listen as you share your story, and begin to help understand what happened to you. Past experiences shape some of how you view and process life experiences today. Your past informs your present. I can help you explore those experiences, how they have affected you in the past and now in your current relationships, behaviour or thought patterns, and even how you perceive yourself, your kids, or your partner. Exploring some of these things together may open the door to curiosity, self-compassion, and also bring meaning and healing to your life. You will begin to notice you feel more "you".

I also use
Mindfulness
-Based Somatic Therapy tools when past traumatic experiences are impacting your current relationship.
Do you feel stuck not knowing how to improve your relationship? Do you feel like you're constantly having the same fight and it never feels resolved? Whether you are looking for a relationship tune-up, or you’re feeling hopeless about your relationship after a betrayal, I am here to help. Research has repeatedly shown that the relationship you have with your counsellor predicts the success you experience in counselling. This is why I prioritize creating a non-judgmental, empathic environment where both partners feel heard. Instead of taking sides between the two of you, I take the side of the relationship.

My passion is the journey back to the authentic self - free, embodied, and full of life. My approach is informed by
mindfulness
, Buddhist psychology, and contemplative practices. The human journey includes painful experiences. There can be unbearable tension between the harsh limits of life and our deep longings for freedom, connection, and wellbeing. It was my own experiences of pain, confusion, disconnection, and feeling stuck that first led me to the world of the therapeutic process. There I discovered a sense of inner connection. When the mind, body, and spirit are in harmony there is a sense of inner space, ease, and trust.

With over 7 years of experience supporting individuals and families, I offer a holistic, trauma-informed approach, where I incorporate family theories, and attachment theories, along with DBT, ACT, EMDR, Neurofeedback, and
mindfulness
techniques.
Seeking help is not always easy. Not knowing what to say, worrying about being a burden, fear of being judged or rejected…the list is endless. It takes a lot of courage to ask for help because we will have to put ourselves in a vulnerable place, where we surrender control. I believe vulnerability is the key to any close relationship. And here you are, bravely taking the first step towards the journey of healing and reconnection. Congratulations! Now that you have chosen to reflect on the past and move forward, I hope to have the honour of providing a safe and welcoming space for you to let the healing begin.

Mindfulness
based therapies through a trauma-informed lens.
Are life circumstances causing you to feel stuck and exhausted? Are you struggling to live your best life? We can often find ourselves trapped in negative situations and thinking patterns, which lead to exhaustion, burnout, depression, and even suicidal ideation. This is especially true in times of life transitions, such as school, new relationships, separation, parenthood, career, etc. My passion for therapy and mental wellness emerges from own past experiences, that were greatly helped by personal counselling and self-care.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Counsellors
How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.
When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?
If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behaviour through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.
What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?
This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviours and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.
Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioural habits.
