Life can be tough and overwhelming at times, but it is important to remember that there is hope. We all have the ability to heal ourselves and our relationships. Expressing and processing our emotions can be difficult, which is why the therapeutic relationship is so important. I value the relationships that I have with my clients and aim to create a safe space where all individuals feel that they can be themselves without fear of judgment. I look forward to hearing and connecting with my clients and their stories. I also have a passion for working with BIPOC

of colour, who has experience working through a culturally inclusive lens. Through my lived experience and growing up in a multicultural society, it has given me a unique ability to see cultures from a different viewpoint; both the importance of beliefs & values that come from our cultures, whilst also recognizing the internal conflicts they can cause us as individuals. I believe as mental health providers it is important to meet the diverse needs of individuals within the community.

Do you feel unsettled, worried or stuck? Do you have a sense that you are in a rut, created from doing the same things over and over, and not getting different results? Maybe you feel unsatisfied in your relationships, or that your life lacks meaning? Exploring these dark places alone feels terrifying, but healing comes when you connect with someone you trust. Sometimes the small shifts create a ripple through your life that changes how you see yourself and how you relate to others. When you are not walking the road alone, you feel resourced with a greater capacity for healing and growth.

As a therapist, I offer you a professional relationship that is deeply accepting and non-judgemental, but also objective and truthful. The issues that bring you to therapy likely started in the context of relationship, and so need to be healed in relationship. My expertise is in creating a specific type of relationship with you, that catalyzes healing and change. In this process you will discover your capacity to trust again, to have connected, satisfying relationships, to stabilize emotionally and accept yourself again. Compulsions and addictions will become unnecessary, and you will develop a new sense of peace and joy in life.

Female Counsellors
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
