As a therapist, I offer you a professional
relationship
that is deeply accepting and non-judgemental, but also objective and truthful. The issues that bring you to therapy likely started in the context of
relationship
, and so need to be healed in
relationship
. My expertise is in creating a specific type of
relationship
with you, that catalyzes healing and change. In this process you will discover your capacity to trust again, to have connected, satisfying relationships, to stabilize emotionally and accept yourself again. Compulsions and addictions will become unnecessary, and you will develop a new sense of peace and joy in life.

My role as therapist is to facilitate and support growth, discovery and self-learning, in a safe and compassionate therapeutic
relationship
.
Sometimes our greatest discomfort comes when we aren’t who we once were and we’re not yet who we are becoming. We need help to step into this new reality. It is possible to go through life’s challenges with support, guidance and inspiration. Trauma can fracture us from our authentic self. Therapy can help to put the pieces together: mind, body, heart and soul. It is possible to discover new internal resources that bring an increased feeling of self-mastery, self-awareness and self-confidence. It is possible that successfully going through life’s rites of passage can lead to a clear vision for a future filled with purpose.

She always begins with building safety for vulnerability in this new counselling
relationship
; this includes validation and some grounding/relaxation practices.
Stephanie provides support for people experiencing stress and shame-related issues such as relational trauma, anxiety, perfectionism, religious trauma/deconstruction, self-acceptance/compassion, life transitions, compassion fatigue, stress management, and more. Since these experiences often make it difficult to cope and thrive in the day-to-day - and in connection with others - counselling can provide growth towards feeling worthy and connected. Stephanie's truest value is that all people are worthy of love and belonging and embarks to bring that sense of value to every session.

Couples Counselling
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
