With children we use toys and games as play/ art therapy has proven to be an effective way to help kids.
Children, teens, and families who come to my practice are often navigating emotional regulation challenges, anxiety, ADHD, neurodiversity, behavioural concerns, family transitions, or difficulties in connection at home or school. Parents may feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure how to best support their child. Our team helps by creating a safe, attuned space where children can express themselves through play and relationship, while caregivers receive guidance to better understand and respond to their child’s needs. We focus on strengthening emotional safety, improving regulation, and supporting healthier family connection.

I specialize in providing therapeutic support to adults, teens, and children (ages 3 and up), utilizing a range of approaches. In my practice, I embrace the concept of Wabi-Sabi, which celebrates the beauty of imperfection, impermanence, and the incomplete. This philosophy informs my therapeutic approach by encouraging clients to find acceptance and peace in the natural flow of life, recognizing that growth often comes through embracing life’s imperfections and uncertainties. This mindset fosters resilience and allows clients to appreciate their journey, with all its flaws and triumphs, as a beautiful and meaningful experience.

If anger, stress, or overwhelming emotions feel like they’re taking over your life, you don’t have to face it alone. While I work with many types of clients, I specialize in supporting men who struggle with anger and emotions that feel difficult to manage. Often, anger covers deeper hurt, fear, or old patterns that no longer serve you. My approach combines somatic and parts work, going beyond talk therapy to explore how emotions live in the body. Together, we’ll uncover what’s underneath, and build practical tools to regulate emotions, manage stress, and create healthier ways of coping and connecting.

You may be carrying trauma, grief, or the feeling that the life you’re living no longer fits who you are. At the core of it, you may be longing for relief, clarity, and a deeper connection to yourself, your values, and the life you want to live.

Thank you for clicking on my profile. Here is a little about what collaborating with me is like. I believe you know what is best, and I am here to witness and help guide you on your journey. My core values are empathy, respect, authenticity, and autonomy, which are reflected in the therapeutic relationship I foster. Creating warmth, caring, acceptance and support are fundamental in this.
I also strongly believe in the mind-body connection, as our bodies hold emotions, and sometimes we need a little support to understand its message. I have cultivated my own mind-body connection by frequently tuning in through going on a hike, work

I advocate on how creative expressions provide insight opportunities in exploration and identification into one’s underlying causations within their behaviors and perspectives. Furthermore, I believe the innate emotional therapy, comes from the “process-making”, of one's creative expression, and not as much - from the aethestic, of one's end result the piece.

Art Therapy Counsellors
How does art therapy work?
The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.
Does art therapy help with trauma?
Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.
How long does art therapy last?
The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.
What are the limitations of art therapy?
Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
