I focus on Relationship Counselling,
Anger Management
and Communication, Relationships, Self-Esteem and Stress and Anxiety Counselling.
The Power of Perception... The greatest area of growth my clients experience from our work together is the discovery that their problems are not what they thought they were. I'll help you move from a place of hopelessness, frustration and fear to understanding and peace. Struggle is a "threshold" of transition and can be your power spot. Although this can be difficult, discomfort acts as a motivator to create change. That is its job. You are at a place where all the possibilities and richness of life are yours to be found. I can help you take your next steps.

Welcome! I am glad you found yourself here. I acknowledge that counselling is a courageous step. It is courageous to look within yourself and realize that there are some things not working for you. Many times we have experienced non-death loss, suffering, and pain hoping that it would have disappeared with time but the intense pain, hurt, and
anger
continues to remain.

I have been employed as a clinical counselor since 2006, providing counseling on various issues including addictions, depression, anxiety, ADHD, self-esteem, trauma, child & youth mental health,
anger management
, crime victim assistance, family issues, couple counseling, parenting, and so on.
My foundation of therapy is a biopsychosocial-spiritual model, viewing human beings as whole persons of four aspects: physical, psychological, social, and spiritual. Therefore, I am able to see the whole picture on how a brain injury, physical illness, physical trauma, or substance abuse affects human emotions, cognition, behavior, and spirituality, or vice versa. My approach utilizes Cognitive Rehabilitation therapy (CRT), Rogerian therapy, Cognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT), and Narrative therapy in order to help my clients toward problem solving and having a new hope for a new life.

I can help you in a variety areas like
anger
, anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, religious deconstruction, stress and trauma.
There are many differing messages of who to be and it can be easy to lose connection to the truth of who we are. We are continually shaped and impacted by relationships, life experiences, trauma, and our worldviews. As well, our own mental health can rob us from living authentically. As a therapist, I value the unique identity and experience of each person I work with, welcoming individuals of diverse backgrounds, identities, cultures, and spiritual orientations. It is my desire that you experience a warm, supportive therapeutic relationship with me where you're encouraged to be the truest expression of yourself.

Clients who are looking for answers, looking to understand how they got to where they are, clients who struggle to control their own emotions, thoughts, or behaviour, these are the clients with whom I work the best. Having said that, I'm very adaptable to the needs of the client. If they need a teacher, I teach. If they need a listener, I listen. If they need a mentor, I mentor.

Anger Management Counsellors
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
