My time in the school-based system opened my eyes to the increasing behaviors in the classroom, but most of these children had no support as they were diagnosed with ADHD or other behavioural issues.
As parents we sometimes feel at a loss as to how to help our child, particularly when they are experiencing difficulties in more than one area of their lives: at school, with friends, regulating emotions, academically, socially or behaviorally. My personal experience and my love for children has helped me to realize that many parents need support and I have a passion for helping children and parents navigate these challenges. It is my belief that it takes a village for total and consistent support to achieve optimum results. I can help with home and school, on what can be a. tough and confusing path.

I work with parents to help them move forward with their child with ADHD .
You're tired of hearing from teachers, fighting with your child at home, and feeling like nothing you try is working. You know your child isn’t a bad kid, you don't need the teacher to tell you that, but then why do they act like that?

My specialties include DBT, CBT, and ADHD coaching to help with symptoms of impulsivity, inattention, distractibility, disorganization, poor executive function, and other challenges associated with ADHD as well as emotion regulation, boundaries and unclear sense of identity associated with BPD.
Making changes isn’t always easy. Come explore and discover what motivates you and gain self-awareness. My approach is client-centred, strengths-based, and goal-oriented. I've been told I'm relatable, bring warmth, humour, and authenticity to my sessions and I provide a safe space where people can be open about anything (I believe secrets cause sickness). I've also been told I am good at helping with accountability as well. I'd love to work with you to create goals to improve your life, and then build a roadmap to achieve them. "Empathy and unconditional positive regard" (no judgement) is my motto.

I have experience working with clients struggling from anxiety, depression, adhd , grief, and relationship issues.
I support clients who feel stuck, anxious, and unable to enjoy their present lives. Our past struggles and experiences can sometimes leave a negative residue on us and prevent us from living freely. For us to heal from the experiences and struggles we face we must allow ourselves to process our thoughts and emotions so we can truly move past them.

Are you struggling with thoughts, emotions, memories, grief, loss, trauma, stress, anxiety, depression, panic, anger, feeling stuck, or worried about your relationships? My therapy practice is based on a belief that everyone has a unique history with many experiences that shape and transform our ways of being and interactions. Each person is beautiful and whole with a powerful story. So many factors impact our development, how we see ourselves, and how we relate to one another. Sometimes it can be difficult to know who we are, who we want to be, or how to take the next step.

I have been employed as a clinical counselor since 2006, providing counseling on various issues including addictions, depression, anxiety, ADHD , self-esteem, trauma, child & youth mental health, anger management, crime victim assistance, family issues, couple counseling, parenting, and so on.
My foundation of therapy is a biopsychosocial-spiritual model, viewing human beings as whole persons of four aspects: physical, psychological, social, and spiritual. Therefore, I am able to see the whole picture on how a brain injury, physical illness, physical trauma, or substance abuse affects human emotions, cognition, behavior, and spirituality, or vice versa. My approach utilizes Cognitive Rehabilitation therapy (CRT), Rogerian therapy, Cognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT), and Narrative therapy in order to help my clients toward problem solving and having a new hope for a new life.

I am a Queer Taiwanese-Canadian who currently resides on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, & Tsleil-Waututh nations - also known as the Vancouver Lower Mainland. My mission is to guide, advocate, and to help people who need support by empowering them to make informed decisions in their community. Growing up as someone who became the bridge between two cultures, I understand what it can be like to grapple with the challenges that come with integrating different values & boundaries. Communicating itself is difficult, nevermind the anxieties, shame, & guilt that may come up when there are language & cultural barriers.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
