I focus on building self-esteem, self- acceptance and self-compassion.
Life is challenging and at times can feel overwhelming. Thoughts may be swirling around your head resulting in stress, anxiety, and feelings of hopelessness. Together, we will work on strategies addressing these issues; as well as healing the root cause. We will focus on your strengths and use those to help your area(s) of need. You will learn tools and resources to interpret your behaviours, identify themes and analyze problems. Counselling works because you have the ability to grow and change. I will help you build a strong foundation for the now and future. I offer short term and long-term goal focused counselling.

With over 7 years of experience supporting individuals and families, I offer a holistic, trauma-informed approach, where I incorporate family theories, and attachment theories, along with DBT, ACT , EMDR, Neurofeedback, and mindfulness techniques.
Seeking help is not always easy. Not knowing what to say, worrying about being a burden, fear of being judged or rejected…the list is endless. It takes a lot of courage to ask for help because we will have to put ourselves in a vulnerable place, where we surrender control. I believe vulnerability is the key to any close relationship. And here you are, bravely taking the first step towards the journey of healing and reconnection. Congratulations! Now that you have chosen to reflect on the past and move forward, I hope to have the honour of providing a safe and welcoming space for you to let the healing begin.

Common approaches I utilize but not limited too are CBT, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, DBT, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused, & Therapeutic Art approaches.
Mental health affects us all and in various ways. It can be hard to navigate and find new ways out of problems, especially if doing it alone. If you are experiencing hardships related to mental health or substance use, let’s collaborate and work together to find a new path out of those challenges and towards a life you want to be living. In my clinical practice I specialize in working with young adults & adults around themes such as anxiety, stress, burnout, low self-confidence, life transitions, and substance use.

I offer approaches such as CBT, EMDR, ACT , Bowen Family Systems, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, SFBT, Gestalt Therapy, and Mindfulness based therapies through a trauma-informed lens.
Are life circumstances causing you to feel stuck and exhausted? Are you struggling to live your best life? We can often find ourselves trapped in negative situations and thinking patterns, which lead to exhaustion, burnout, depression, and even suicidal ideation. This is especially true in times of life transitions, such as school, new relationships, separation, parenthood, career, etc. My passion for therapy and mental wellness emerges from own past experiences, that were greatly helped by personal counselling and self-care.

You're tired of hearing from teachers, fighting with your child at home, and feeling like nothing you try is working. You know your child isn’t a bad kid, you don't need the teacher to tell you that, but then why do they act like that?

Clarity. Understanding. Acceptance . These are all things we want for ourselves but, occasionally, the mirror of our mind becomes clouded and tarnished by anxiety, depression, trauma, and a variety of other life struggles. This can distort how we see ourselves, people around us, and the potential for our future. We can work together to shift your view, restore clarity and hope for the present, and bring new possibilities for a transformed future into focus.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Counsellors

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
