Trauma Focused Therapists in Kelowna, BC
As a Trauma-Focused ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) therapist, I collaboratively build awareness and skills to improve regulation, relationships, and values-driven action across all areas of your life.
Are you looking to get back in control of yourself and your life? Often, we can feel like we are victims at the hands of our emotions, like someone else is running our lives and we are just watching it happen. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, OCD, depression, or trauma, you may find yourself distant from your loved ones, your values, and even yourself. I work to empower you back to a place where you are able to decide what you want your life to look like, so that when difficult thoughts and emotions arise, you can face them, decide what you want to do with them, and act in a way that you can be proud of.

Experiences of abuse, violence, or betrayal by someone we know or trust can profoundly shape how we see ourselves, others, and the world around us. Whether you're navigating the effects of childhood abuse or neglect, intimate partner violence, sexual violence, or other difficult life experiences, therapy can offer a space to make sense of your experiences with curiosity and intention.

As a counsellor, I offer a warm, non-judgmental space where you can show up as your authentic self, without pressure or pretense. My approach is rooted in self-compassion, awareness, and a deep respect for the connection between the mind and body. I support clients in understanding their nervous systems and reconnecting with their internal experience. Together, we slow things down creating space to notice, feel, and make sense of what’s coming up.

Life can sometimes feel like a rough sea and counselling can help you navigate the turbulent waters. It is my goal to provide a space where you can work through challenging issues and provide support to navigate these areas of your life. I will support you by acknowledging your unique experiences and struggles with life circumstances, inviting you to explore new ways of coping. It is my belief that connecting to the body, using techniques such as breathing, noticing sensations, and recognizing how sensations are linked to feelings often provides insight and are powerful resources to work through emotions.

Currently on maternity leave.
Our feelings, thoughts, and relationships can be messy. Sometimes, it all feels like it’s just too much. I know what that’s like. I also know it’s a little bit easier when, instead of turning away, someone chooses to sit with you in those moments and says: "This isn’t too much. You’re not (insert terrible thing you fear is true about you). You don’t have to hold this alone.” I believe that’s my job as a therapist – to sit with you in the midst of all that messiness and help you hold the painful and overwhelming parts. From there, we can work together to untangle it and move towards your goals.

Trauma Therapist. Early relationships shape how we learn to connect with others and ourselves. When those bonds were unsafe, inconsistent, or overwhelming, it can show up later as anxiety, people-pleasing, emotional shutdown, or difficulty trusting and setting boundaries. You may feel stuck in painful patterns in romantic relationships, friendships, or work, carrying shame, hypervigilance, or a sense of not being enough. These are not flaws — they are adaptive responses to relational trauma and attachment wounds.

My approach is multidimensional and personalized, drawing from various evidence-based practices, which include somatic, attachment, and mindfulness. While we can’t predict how we might respond to challenging situations, we can work to renegotiate our memories by accessing our body’s unique means of responding to triggers. The method is layered; together, we might consider your earliest attachments in childhood, how you have interpreted a traumatic experience and even your intersectionalities on a macro level. Once this evidence is gathered, activation is located in the physical body, energy is addressed and worked with somatically.

Being authentic means that you can live according to what you care about and do what you are good at. It involves knowing yourself, recognizing pressures to be a certain way (from inside and outside), and acting in a way that is consistent with your values.
When you can't be authentic it can lead to feeling anxious, depressed, angry, or avoidant. This can result from messaging and roles put on you growing up, from a traumatic experience, being in relationships where you feel pulled to be a certain way, not being validated, or not having had the opportunity to figure out who you are.

Sometimes life presents us with challenges that we didn't ask for. This can feel unfair, and navigating our struggles can feel overwhelming. It's not lost on me the strength that it takes to seek help. I believe in resilience, and that you know yourself better than anyone. Sometimes you just need some support discovering your true self.
