Does this sound familiar? You’re successful, thoughtful, and strong, and yet, you often feel disconnected from your body, overwhelmed by anxiety, or uncertain in your relationships. Maybe you’ve experienced trauma that still echoes in your daily life, or you're exploring your sexuality or intimacy but feel stuck, ashamed, or unsure where to turn. You’ve tried to “figure it out” on your own, through self-help books, yoga, journaling, or simply pushing forward, but deep down, you’re still carrying the weight of unprocessed pain. You’re ready to feel differently. You want to feel safe in your body again. You want to feel connected.

Life can sometimes feel like a rough sea and counselling can help you navigate the turbulent waters. It is my goal to provide a space where you can work through challenging issues and provide support to navigate these areas of your life. I will support you by acknowledging your unique experiences and struggles with life circumstances, inviting you to explore new ways of coping. It is my belief that connecting to the body, using techniques such as breathing, noticing sensations, and recognizing how sensations are linked to feelings often provides insight and are powerful resources to work through emotions.

Many people seek counselling while carrying the weight of both present pressures and past experiences. This can leave someone feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or constantly on edge while still trying to function and care for others. In my practice, I support trauma survivors through a compassionate, paced approach that helps reduce the impact of past experiences, regulate the nervous system, and rebuild safety and self-trust. The goal is not only coping, but reconnecting with meaning, resilience, and a renewed sense of possibility.

I've been practicing since 1995 & I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor & Marriage & Family Therapist. However, I am now only accepting individual clients 18+. It's clear to me that we can all struggle, even if we are successful in other areas of our lives. Life can be unpredictable & the stress & demands of everyday life, work & relationships can take its toll. As stressors build, you may find yourself struggling with anxiety, mood, eating, body image issues or turning to addictive behaviours. You may also find that unresolved grief or past trauma keeps seeping into your daily life & especially when you least want or expect it.

My work as a therapist is informed by human resilience and our intrinsic drive to heal. I believe that we are oriented towards growth, and the integration of trauma, life experience and pain is the doorway to actualization. I see therapy as a tool for becoming, it is process of unfolding, discovering and meeting yourself. This work can be challenging: struggle is part of the human experience, however, so is transformation, connection, and change. I work closely with those who have experienced trauma, disordered eating and body image issues, and anxiety and depression.

Clients present with a variety of concerns, needs, and goals. Most will be struggling with concerns around anxiety and/or depression. I meet with the client for a thorough history, identify priorities io work on, and then collaboratively develop a treatment approach. I use CBT to conceptualize our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and use grounding exercises with a focus on our somatic senses to help calm the client to understand struggles. Clients are invited to their thoughts, beliefs and their values, including dreams. Together, we work with to understand how these "fit" into their life and how well they are working.

Anxiety and self-criticism stuck in a thought loop? Constantly thinking, worrying about how everyone else is going to react? Social anxiety getting in your way? Dread and burnout about your to-dos and chasing balance? Yeah, I hear you! That’s tiring after a while! Hey folks, I’m Trina. My specialization is in treating anxiety, social anxiety, burnout, and PTSD/trauma. People I work with are often healing overachieving tendencies, relationship trauma, self-critical thought spirals, and worries about what “should” be. Let’s create a supportive inner dialogue, so that you’re your own biggest cheerleader with a quieter, gentler mind.

For years, I believed that it was a waste of time to have feelings or to be aware of my body. As a clinician, I draw from both top-down (mind-based) and bottom-up (body-based) approaches to support healing and integration. We might explore your thoughts and patterns to make sense of your experiences, or gently work with the nervous system to release what has been held in the body. My work is grounded in somatic therapy, relational connection, and the belief that healing happens not just through insight, but through lived, & safe experiences. Therapy with me is paced, compassionate, and experiential.

I work with individuals experiencing a wide range of mental health concerns; including histories of trauma, depression, stress/burnout and anxiety. I have a particular interest in supporting individuals who have experienced trauma, both the experience of single traumatic event and histories of childhood abuse or complex trauma. This may present as concerns with nightmares, distressing memories, persistent low mood, persistent anxiety, difficulty managing emotions, feeling numb, feelings of worthlessness, guilt or shame, struggling with a harsh inner critic, and/or difficulty in relationships, among other symptoms.

I work most effectively with clients who feel stuck, knowing something needs to change but are unsure how to get there. Whether navigating trauma, life changes, relationship and intergenerational patterns, questioning meaning, or are having a hard time showing up or feeling as they want to, my clients are at the point where they are willing to try a different approach with someone new. I draw from evidence-based modalities that shift thinking and behaviour, integrate parts, and process emotions. I also utilize somatic approaches that address the nervous system, releasing patterns and trapped tension and emotions.

Sometimes life presents us with challenges that we didn't ask for. This can feel unfair, and navigating our struggles can feel overwhelming. It's not lost on me the strength that it takes to seek help. I believe in resilience, and that you know yourself better than anyone. Sometimes you just need some support discovering your true self.

The distressing experiences we all face can leave us with negative and untrue beliefs about ourselves that can contribute to anxiety, overwhelm and negative thoughts. I use Evidence based practices such as EMDR to re wire the brain and find new perspectives and beliefs that support clients goals. Having large emotional reactions to situations, feeling overwhelmed or anxious much of the time and low self worth are often signs of trauma stuck in the body. Clients have reported that reprocessing memories has lead to a greater sense of peace in their lives which allows them to deal with conflict and crisis more effectively.
