Manulife Therapists in Kelowna, BC
My ideal client is a neurodivergent individual (or any individual) navigating the exhaustion of masking, unmet needs, and the weight of being misunderstood. They often experience anxiety, burnout, or disconnection from themselves and others. They may struggle with unhelpful thought patterns, emotional regulation, and relationships impacted by societal pressures. They want clarity, self-acceptance, and tools to meet their needs without shame. Ultimately, they seek to create meaning, live authentically, and reclaim their agency.

You’re hardworking, capable, and often the one others turn to—but inside, you feel drained, stuck, or are constantly second-guessing yourself. You might be navigating anxiety, burnout, or the pressure to keep it all together while your own needs go unmet. Maybe you’ve lost touch with who you are outside of your responsibilities, or struggle to feel “good enough.” You want clarity, ease, and a more honest connection with yourself. You're ready to move beyond people-pleasing and build a life that feels aligned, grounded, and sustainable.

I have always been passionate about connecting with people and learning from their experiences, which has shaped my dedication to mental health support. Before earning my Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work, I served as a paid-on-call firefighter with my local rural fire department for nearly 8 years. This time gave me deep respect for the resilience and camaraderie that defines first responder culture. Recognizing the need for clinicians who truly understand this world, I merged my passions for firefighting and mental health to specialize in supporting first responders and frontline workers.

As a man, therapy might not be your preferred use of time, yet a growing part of you is curious about what could be. Throughout your life, you’ve felt minimized and closed off from your potential. Maybe you’ve grown curious about that. You know you have lots to offer, but you are uncertain of what that could look like. You want to gain confidence and independence to realize your dreams or control your addictions, but you haven’t found someone who cares or understands enough to provide you with the support you need. You are noticing a new excitement and motivation to connect with yourself and others in a healthier way.

Sometimes life presents us with challenges that we didn't ask for. This can feel unfair, and navigating our struggles can feel overwhelming. It's not lost on me the strength that it takes to seek help. I believe in resilience, and that you know yourself better than anyone. Sometimes you just need some support discovering your true self.

Many of my clients are men with personal and relational challenges, such as sexual addiction, infidelity, compulsive pornography use and intimacy challenges. Depression, addiction and anxiety are often linked with relationship difficulties. 70 years of life experience has been my best teacher (even though I have all the necessary professional training.) I have experienced loss when 2 spouses passed away from disease. I have won my own battles with cancer and addiction. I have raised 4 children, 2 step children (some with special needs) and now enjoy 12 grandchildren. I treat anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and anger by addressing the root of the problem - trauma. I am trained in EMDR, which is useful in healing PTSD (both childhood and adult trauma). Within minutes (not months) the pain of trauma may be permanently erased and people are less triggered in life.
