Grief changes everything.
You don’t have to navigate this alone. I offer a supportive space where your grief is welcome in whatever form it shows up. Together, we’ll make sense of your grief, honour what’s been lost, and create space for what comes next. With time and the right support, it’s possible to feel connected again and wake up without the heaviness you've been carrying.

I have walked alongside individuals who experience emotional pain, attachment wounds, inability to connect, chronic stress, burnout, anxiety, depression, infertility, loneliness, isolation, shame, guilt, loss, grief, fear, frustration, sense of not belonging, losses of identity, lack of self-compassion and purpose.
Hi, I’m Janice. I know it can feel really overwhelming to find a new counsellor who you connect with and feel comfortable to share some really hard things that have led you here. My approach to counselling is to start where you are and to go at your pace. In a heart-centred, gentle, emotionally safe, trauma-sensitive and supportive way, together we will explore and help you see and access your healing, wisdom, and growth. Everyone has an innate capacity to feel better and live a more peaceful and authentic life. It would be my privilege to walk with you on your healing journey.

I believe in ongoing personal growth so I can best support my clients. Having been on my own healing journey, I understand how hard it is to face painful places. That experience allows me to listen with deep compassion. You deserve to be heard and understood, and I’ll meet you wherever you are with an open mind and a caring heart.

If you feel like you have lost touch with who you are, or you are carrying heavy burdens from trauma, grief, or complicated relationships, I offer a calm, non‑judging space to sort through what has happened and how you want your life to move forward.
“extra sessions” they can return to when life gets loud, helping them stay connected to their own wisdom between appointments. In our conversations I work collaboratively and at your pace, drawing from Narrative Therapy, somatic and relational approaches to co‑create a plan that is focused, time‑sensible, and centred on what matters most to you.

As a Master Practitioner Clinical Counsellor, religious trauma recovery coach, and former fundamentalist, I understand the lasting impact of authoritarian religion. Many adults raised this way struggle with self-esteem, boundaries, communication, and decision-making. I help clients assess the effects of indoctrination, examine inherited beliefs, develop a grounded, reality-based worldview, and build safe, supportive secular connections. Just as religion can shape every part of life, healing can too.

Are you feeling depressed, anxious or stuck? Disconnected from family, friends or even yourself? Experiencing unfamiliar and uncomfortable feelings after an event or life transition? Feeling unfulfilled in life? If so, you are not alone. We often find ourselves engaging in the same repetitive behaviours and relationships that prevent us from achieving our goals and commitments in life. However, with the support and guidance of a counsellor, you can begin to make changes that will generate momentum in your life.

Many people seek counselling while carrying the weight of both present pressures and past experiences. This can leave someone feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or constantly on edge while still trying to function and care for others. In my practice, I support trauma survivors through a compassionate, paced approach that helps reduce the impact of past experiences, regulate the nervous system, and rebuild safety and self-trust. The goal is not only coping, but reconnecting with meaning, resilience, and a renewed sense of possibility.

Are ADHD, trauma, grief, or struggles with food making daily life harder?
Along with talk therapy, I utilize Somatic Experiencing, a body-based approach that helps you notice and release the physical sensations where stress, trauma, or emotions are often stored. I also integrate nutritional support and the importance of movement into counselling to support overall well-being.

I create a safe, supportive space where you can explore anxiety, depression, burnout, grief, relationship challenges, and trauma while building coping tools and meaningful, lasting change.
You might feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected in your daily life. You may be struggling with anxiety, depression, burnout, life transitions, relationship challenges, or the lingering effects of past trauma. You want clarity, balance, and ways to manage stress while understanding the patterns in your thoughts, emotions, and relationships. If any of this resonates, you don’t have to navigate it alone. Support is available, and change is possible.

Some of us are intimately familiar with pain, hardship, and loss.
I also recognize that disorientation and stress can accompany transitions at many points across the lifespan—whether it’s post-secondary students stepping into adulthood, or older adults experiencing loss, questioning purpose, or facing disconnection. These seasons of change can feel deeply unsettling.

Grief Counsellors
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
