I use solution-focused approaches, attachment theory, family systems theory, as well as mindfulness based techniques.
Are you, as parents, currently grappling with the weight of life's tough decisions? Do you find yourselves navigating the labyrinth of anxiety, uncertain about your next steps in various situations? Are you struggling with conflict, challenging child behaviours or unchanging family dynamics? If you're nodding your heads, then it's time to take that pivotal first step and reach out for the support you need and deserve. As a Child & Family Counsellor my goal is to empower you to gain insight into your challenges, then connect with your strengths and provide strategies and opportunities to move past these difficulties and find peace.

We have 15 practitioners who are RCCs or RSWs who understand how physical and mental crisis affect the individual and the family.
We believe the client + counsellor must fit, so we have multiple practitioners with two locations so you can choose a therapist with whom you connect. Each of us endeavour to understand you and your experiences. We have a deep interest in how emotional regulation, identity and family dynamics can be factors that contribute to and protect people in the development of physical and mental health disorders. Our counselling styles can be described as empathic & solution-focused. We provide an environment free from judgement and believe honesty and acceptance are fundamental to personal growth and change.

My clients want a safe place where they will be deeply heard, understood, and validated. Many of my clients had childhoods that were lacking in nurturing. I support adults who are dealing with issues such as self-care and worthiness struggles, unresolved emotional wounds, body acceptance and battles with diet culture, chronic illness/pain, disability, anxiety, depression, relationship/family conflict, and grief/loss. Come enjoy a complimentary beverage, unload what weighs on your heart, and leave feeling supported, lighter, and more hopeful.

For family support counselling I will often incorporate Emotion-focused family therapy (EFFT) strategies.
As a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) I offer counselling to adults, youth and families with a variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, grief, ADHD, and relationship issues. Another area of interest is working alongside parents and caregivers as they support their child or youth struggling with mental health and/or behavioural challenges, such as conflict in the home, difficulty managing emotions and school refusal.

Family Therapy Counsellors

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
