My work as a therapist is family systems and attachment-based driven, seeking an increased awareness of family dynamics and our respective roles in the dynamic.
As a Registered Clinical Counsellor, family lawyer, family mediator and parenting coordinator, I am acutely aware that relationships don't end, they change; especially the case when children are involved. As a therapeutic Counsellor I support individuals, couples and families to actively manage change to lead more fulfilling lives, regardless of whether they live in one or two households. I have a particular interest in therapeutic mediation and remediating family conflict to improve quality of life; as a lawyer I have a particular interest in the dynamics of parental alienation www.silverstonecounselling.ca www.pricestephenslaw.ca

I delve deep into the underlying causes of issues and behaviors, employing a holistic blend of narrative therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), emotionally focused therapy, the Gottman method, anti-oppressive therapy, and attachment-based therapies.
Divorce can be one of life’s most stressful experiences, but it also offers an opportunity for healing, increased self-understanding, and a chance to create new possibilities for the future. My passion is helping individuals, children, and families navigate the challenges of separation, divorce, and co-parenting. I support parents and children as they cope with the emotional complexities of these transitions, providing guidance to those facing relationship shifts and seeking emotional and practical support during difficult times.

My therapeutic approach is grounded in a relational approach, incorporating elements of Attachment-Based Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, Play Therapy, and EMDR.
Are you looking for support with anxiety, emotional regulation, relationship issues, trauma, or just becoming a better version of yourself? Know that you are not alone. I believe that life has a way of making us feel lost, we lose touch with our inner compass, making it difficult to navigate relationships or to tap into joy. You shouldn't have to take this on alone though, which is why it is my goal to come alongside you so we can wade the complexity of life together. With the right support life doesn't have to feel so "blah". If you are ready to dig deep, you are in the right place!

My approach is rooted in attachment-based and family systems theories, recognizing how past relationships shape current experiences.
You’re doing your best to hold things together—for your kids, your partner, your family—but lately, it feels like that weight is getting heavier. Maybe you’re struggling to understand your child’s behaviour. Maybe your co-parenting relationship is tense or strained. Maybe you're grieving the time you’ve lost with a child you love deeply. If any of this sounds familiar, I want you to know: there is hope, and you don’t have to figure it out alone.

I use Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Experiencing, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and attachment-based approaches to support healing and growth.
Are you feeling anxious, stuck, or weighed down by self-doubt? Life transitions, relationship struggles, or low self-esteem may be making it difficult to trust yourself or set boundaries. If you’re craving deeper connections but feel disconnected or unsure where to begin, know that you’re not alone. Life’s demands can leave us feeling overwhelmed, and it’s okay to feel lost. We all carry burdens and beliefs that no longer serve us, and letting go can be tough. Through gentle exploration and self-discovery, you can break free from patterns, rebuild self-trust, find peace, make empowered decisions, and create a fulfilling life.

Through supportive, attachment-based approach, we get curious and explore the brilliant adaptive tendencies you've created to keep yourself safe and able to keep traversing this wild and challenging life.
Recently, I have been exploring the concept of Legacy and what that looks like over a lifetime, a moment, or even the Legacy we want to leave from yesterday. The emotional legacies we may have been given do not need to be endured for a lifetime. By turning our focus inward and repairing the relationship with ourselves, we begin to rebuild sustainable, fulfilling, authentic connections, allowing healing and transformation with our partners, friends, extended family and community. Repairing our relationship with ourselves promotes intergenerational mental health with our partners, children, siblings and parents.

Do you find yourself feeling stuck lately? Struggling to feel connected with yourself and those around you? Have you been feeling lonely, overwhelmed, anxious or depressed? Maybe you're noticing that your past is having a negative impact on your present. So many of us find ourselves making the same mistakes; repeating old patterns, again and again. This often leaves us feeling defeated, invalidated and powerless in our very own lives. I am passionate about helping clients identify and overcome the obstacles that keep them from reaching their full potential.

By all appearances, perhaps you have a rather functional life, but on the inside you feel weighed down by past experiences or somehow blocked. You feel the lingering impact of past wounds on your present-day life - perhaps persistent anxiety, intrusive memories, or a sense of disconnection from yourself and others. Maybe it feels hard to let people in or to connect emotionally. Maybe emotions actually get so big they've become scary to feel. You're ready to start taking a look inside, with my support and guidance, and are deeply wanting to feel more whole and better able to operate from your best self.

Attachment-based Counsellors

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
