I provide treatment to individuals seeking support for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and those seeking to reduce symptoms of anxiety, OCD, and depression.
I bring over 20 years of experience supporting children and families to my practice with Kelowna Professional Group. My longstanding interest in the role of attachment as a means to foster deeper and more empathic relationships speaks to the intuition of individuals and families. My "smarter, not harder" approach is delivered with refreshing clarity, and families looking for strategies to improve relationships, foster self-fulfillment, and achieve peace of mind will appreciate my practical and collaborative approach.

You may be someone who shows up well for others - capable, thoughtful, and outwardly functioning - yet internally feel anxious, burned out, disconnected, or unsure of who you are beneath your roles.
I support individuals, couples, and families navigating anxiety, burnout, relationship challenges, life transitions, and identity work. My style is relational and experiential. This means that together we will explore how you relate to yourself, others, and your challenges, while noticing present-moment thoughts, emotions, and patterns in a grounded way.

Grief changes everything. It can feel like the world has kept moving while you’re stuck in place, overwhelmed, disconnected, and unsure how to carry the weight of what you’ve lost. Whether your loss was sudden or expected, life after isn’t what you thought it would be. You might find yourself avoiding memories, feeling numb when you expect to feel sadness, or wondering why everyone else seems to be moving forward while you’re barely holding it together. Some days the grief feels unbearable, and other days you feel nothing at all. It’s exhausting to pretend you are okay when you aren’t, and isolating when no one quite understands.

Physical pain, anxiety and depression associated with trauma/overwhelming experiences can be compounded by frustration and hopelessness when telling our story doesn't bring relief.
Dr. Peter Levine developed Somatic Experiencing (SE) - grounded in biology, neuroscience and psychology, with over 45 years of successful clinical application. Using SE, we will track your body's sensations to gently release survival energy held in the nervous system, renegotiating trauma and restoring the body, mind and emotions to wholeness and well-being.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
