We all have experiences that contribute to our story, sometimes we have stories that are no longer serving us. In my opinion, we can change our narrative and our story’s trajectory. One experience can remain a page rather than taking on the whole book. I believe in creating a space where growth can be fostered, vulnerability can be embraced, change can be created, and connection can be honored. Each session is as unique as the individual I am sitting across from. wish to walk alongside my clients as they step away from their old narratives and help create a new one that is better aligned with who they are and who they wish to be.

It is inevitable that at some point in our lives we will all experience stress in one of its many forms. Difficulties with relationships, jobs, loss, health, trauma and even the relentlessness of a fast-paced lifestyle can lead us to feel overwhelmed and even helpless. Our bodies are designed to allow us to cope with the typical stressors that we come up against in daily life. Unfortunately, the systems we use to manage challenges sometimes become overwhelmed or fail to function in an optimal manner, this can lead to symptoms that can be difficult to manage alone.

Each person’s experiences can only be witnessed and felt from their own perspective. I recognize that every person has an innate human need to be heard, witnessed, respected, and honored in those experiences. The focus of my practice is to honor every individual's unique feelings, circumstances, and experiences without interpreting them. My goal is to find the deepest meanings to their experiences. I want to help them heal from those experiences and help them to integrate them into becoming empowered to live their fullest lives.

People often come to therapy with hopes of feeling happier and more fulfilled, yet the process of change can be frightening and uncomfortable. I want my clients to feel they are in the driver's seat, with access to the brake and gas. I am the passenger with the road map. I will guide their healing journey but they choose the direction and pace.
I truly believe the only thing more frightening than 'change' is the status quo. Why settle? You deserve more!

My goal is to help people heal, change, and grow. While working with individuals in various stages of adulthood, I emphasize the importance of having an accepting and judgement free environment to explore experiences and emotions. Are you seeking one-on-one support for issues that you are dealing with in your daily life? You feel like you are wearing a mask. You go to work and act like you have it all together but inside you feel stuck and helpless. You have a loving family and great friends, but you feel disconnected from them. You feel overwhelmed, and have no idea where to start.

People who land in my office and curl up on my sofa to talk are people seeking some peace. Peace from grief or transition and the change it flings about in our lives and identities, peace from anxiety and events of the past, and peace in relationships. Once we have this, anything is possible and we are free to go after a life that has meaning and juice to it.

I’m passionate about the ways in which workplace experiences can impact emotional health and well-being. As a counselor, I enjoy working with adults interested in processing and healing from unpleasant work experiences, adults who want help ensuring their values align with their work life, and those contemplating career transitions. I spent more than 20 years as a corporate employee and manager in places like Microsoft, Oracle, Salesforce, and GE before realizing my values were better suited by a career transition. I understand what it’s like to work in highly stressful and competitive jobs.

How can I find a therapist in Kamloops?
Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In Canada, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or province where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
How much does therapy cost?
Some forms of mental health treatment (for example, seeing a psychiatrist, or seeing a psychologist in a government-funded hospital) are free under provincial health plans. Canadians who seek private counseling can typically expect to pay an average of $150 per session, although the actual price generally ranges between $100 and $3200 per session, depending on their location and the type of provider they select. Workplace benefits or private insurance plans often provide an annual counselling allowance, and some therapists offer sliding scale fees to clients who cannot pay full price.
