Do you find yourself pushing even when everything inside you says stop? Maybe you’ve built a successful life on the outside—but inside, you feel wired, tired, or disconnected. You might be holding it all together while quietly battling anxiety, exhaustion, or the weight of experiences you’ve never fully talked about. I work with driven people who want to understand why they can’t switch off—and how to finally feel at ease without losing their drive. Many of my clients are high achievers who’ve lived through painful or overwhelming experiences, including sexual trauma, and learned to cope by staying busy, controlled, or always “on.”

I draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy ( DBT), parts-based approaches, and polyvagal-informed work to help you build tolerance for difficult internal experiences, understand emotional patterns, and reconnect with what’s happening in both mind and body.
Something feels off – even if you can’t quite put your finger on it. Maybe you’re exhausted from holding everything together, or you’re more reactive than you’d like to be and not sure why. You might be going through something hard in a relationship, carrying something heavy from the past, or just feeling like you’re constantly running on empty. Things might look fine from the outside, but internally you’re struggling. Overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in the same cycles of stress, worry, or conflict. You may be someone who is capable and used to figuring things out on your own, but right now, something isn’t working.

I have been in private practice for 20 years, and in the mental health field for almost 40 years. My practice draws self-referring, high-functioning adults. couples and families with addiction, anxiety, depression and attachment disorders affecting their lives beyond their historical, current or perceived ability of self-control. In couples, I usually begin individually to create safety and self-awareness, then re-convene targeting clear self-advocacy, expression and truthful communication. EMDR in the couple context can clear a lot of old trauma and wounded pattern-associations that mire us in destructive relational dynamics.

To support day-to-day regulation, I integrate practical skills from CBT & DBT.
My therapy approach is relational and collaborative. Feeling comfortable and connected is when therapy is most effective. My goal is to support you to understand yourself and what you need; to come back home to yourself. I tend to work with folks who aren’t feeling satisfied with their quality of life. This may show up as perfectionism, lack of motivation, hyper-independence, people pleasing tendencies, imposter syndrome etc. I have experience working in healthcare, not for profit, and private settings.

Using a trauma informed integrative approach that draws from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy ( DBT), and Narrative Therapy, I support clients to gain clarity and break free from 'stuckness'.
Reaching out for support can feel intimidating (and honestly, a bit overwhelming). A compassionate, supportive therapeutic relationship can make that first step feel less heavy. I’m a counsellor with a deep curiosity about the human experience and a genuine respect for each person’s unique story — no two are the same, and I don’t believe they should be treated that way. I take a collaborative approach, working alongside you rather than “fixing” you, to support a life that feels aligned with who you truly are. I support individuals in building lives that reflect balance, meaning, and purpose.

I hold additional certification in EMDR, Narrative Therapy, Family Trauma Professional, DBT, and Gottman Couples Counselling.
I believe that every client is unique and an expert in themselves. Sometimes, however, circumstances or events feel overwhelming and intrude on our ability to live the life we want. Having a person to support us on our journey to healing is necessary to feel capable of processing and transforming.

Life doesn’t always unfold the way we imagined. Transitions, relationships, and the ups and downs of our inner world can leave you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or questioning your direction. You may find yourself in familiar relationship patterns, feeling anxious beneath the surface, or noticing patterns like overthinking, people-pleasing, or struggling to set boundaries, even when you know something needs to change. Part of you understands what’s happening, but another part still feels stuck. Together, we’ll look at the patterns underneath what you’re experiencing, not just the symptoms, so change feels meaningful and lasting.

Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behaviour and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behaviour, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioural change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behaviour; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
