Currently accepting new clients. Welcome and thank you for your time. We are bound to face challenges that can leave us feeling overwhelmed, uneasy, or lost. Meaning, whether we like it not, change is inevitable and how we navigate those changes can be difficult. Or sometimes, different feelings, thoughts, experiences, and behaviours can present themselves without knowing how to fully understand them.

Thank you for stopping by. I am currently accepting new clients. I work from where the client is at - essentially you are in the driver's seat of where you want your counselling sessions to go. I have extreme empathy for people's situations and issues they find themselves in. Who hasn't struggled to find ways to deal with things that life throws out at you? I know you are doing the best you can at this moment in time.

I love my work! For over 20 years I've been helping individuals and couples create a life they love with proven, measurable, effective and fast methods to break through old patterns, get past limiting beliefs, and create possibilities they never knew existed. This isn't therapy like you've seen it on TV or in the movies, it doesn't have to take years. If you're tired of the "same old, same old" you deserve to feel better.

I love working with clients who are ready to change, even if they are not sure what they want to change yet. I enjoy helping people define what a good, or better life would look like for them, and exploring - and, conquering - blocks to achieving this. Sometimes, this involves going backwards, and exploring past patterns/systems. Other times, it's about moving forward. We define this, together. I welcome all to work with me. As a mixed race (Jamaican/German), bipoc, queer, and non-binary therapist, I love serving members of my community. I enjoy helping people overcome blocks to creativity and business. I offer somatic techniques.

I believe achieving well-being should be a positive and pleasant experience. Whatever challenges you have, it is never too late to take the first step in achieving your well-being and maintaining it. Humans are one of the most resilient creatures on Earth, because not only do we adapt and integrate, but are capable of creating unique solutions to solve any problem that comes our way. It is this innate creative power that makes us who we are. In our journey to achieve well-being, I look to the development of the whole person; emotions, social skills, spiritual beliefs, community participation, and awareness of the greater world.

I enjoy working with people of all ages and backgrounds, and draw on a variety of interventions designed to help people be curious about their problems and explore new ways to approach interpersonal challenges. I am Certified in Lifespan Integration therapy and also have EMDR training. Currently accepting new clients. I am inspired by the resiliency that can be found in people from all walks of life, and in every corner of the globe. I believe there is strength to be found in everyone, sometimes it just takes a nurturing hand, an understanding ear, and an open heart to create opportunity for individuals to find what is innately within themselves.

How can I find a therapist in Duncan?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In Canada, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or province where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

How much does therapy cost?

Some forms of mental health treatment (for example, seeing a psychiatrist, or seeing a psychologist in a government-funded hospital) are free under provincial health plans. Canadians who seek private counseling can typically expect to pay an average of $150 per session, although the actual price generally ranges between $100 and $3200 per session, depending on their location and the type of provider they select. Workplace benefits or private insurance plans often provide an annual counselling allowance, and some therapists offer sliding scale fees to clients who cannot pay full price.
