Our passion at BPS is to work with children and families to support them in having a better connection with each other and the environment they live in. We provide a fun, safe place for children to learn about their feelings, how their bodies work and how they can get the support they need. We teach strategies they can use on their own, or with their parents support and having the language to express what they are feeling. Parenting is the most amazing and rewarding experience, yet it can also be the most challenging. We provide parents with tools to be present, calm and understanding of what their child may need.

You don’t need to be broken to seek therapy—just human. Many people learn to carry too much or minimize their needs, leading to anxiety, burnout, or disconnection. My approach combines evidence-based methods with a calm, relational style to help you slow down and reconnect with your authentic self. Together, we’ll explore your patterns, build emotional safety, and strengthen your capacity for balance, meaning, and secure connection.

I see individuals who are struggling to cope with: Intense emotions and a high level of sensitivity (often known as "empaths"); anxiety and panic attacks; depression; recovery from trauma; bipolar affective disorder; phobias; grief/loss; and borderline personality disorder. One of my areas of specialization is working alongside family members of individuals with mental health and/or addiction challenges. Supporting a loved one on their recovery journey can be daunting. I address important and common hurdles, such as learning the difference between supporting and enabling.

Many people I work with are navigating relationship and trust issues, feeling overwhelmed or disconnected, or carrying the exhaustion that comes from holding everything together for a long time. Some feel emotionally numb or rely on substances or habits to get through the day, while others feel on edge or overly reactive in ways that don’t always make sense afterward. Often, they are seeking steadier footing, safer relationships, and a clearer sense of direction, authentically shaped by their lived experience.

Having worked as a Kinesiologist, Physical Therapist, Firefighter, and as a Psychologist (ten years), I consider my approach to be that of a personal trainer for stress management and to optimize areas of Mind, Body, and Spiritual wellbeing. As you learn to balance and activate these systems your external life will adapt to match your new internal state.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.
How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.
How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.
How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
