My first career was in education, and I have taught infants through adults across three countries. These experiences have given me a unique perspective on ways to build strong families and manage the challenges of life transitions. I offer support for depression, anxiety, burnout, ADHD, and postpartum issues as well as couples counselling. My time working in healthcare research and disability advocacy has also prompted me to attune to the needs of people with neurodivergence and other exceptionalities.

For many, counselling is an opportunity to evaluate life changes, relationships stressors, and attachment patterns. For others, it can be their only opportunity to emphasize time for themselves and to experience feeling like they are a priority. I recognize the courage and vulnerability it takes to self-reflect and identify areas which you would like to develop insight and emotional intelligence in. I encourage my clients to attach themselves to the process of personal growth and self-discovery rather than simply the end goal, as this creates opportunities to generate self-compassion and gratitude for your strengths and abilities.

I work with adults, couples, and parents who feel emotionally overwhelmed, stuck, or impacted by difficult life experiences. Many of my clients are seeking clarity, emotional balance, and deeper, healthier relationships. I believe that every person has an inherent capacity to heal, and that with the right support, clients can reconnect with their inner strengths and who they truly want to become. In our work together, clients explore emotional patterns shaped by past experiences and develop greater self-compassion, regulation, and more meaningful connections.

Have you ever wondered: How much of my problem is me generated and how much is other people or circumstances? You know you are responsible for making changes in your life and yet things happen that make that change seemingly impossible. How can I change my private self and how I relate outwardly? Can I move from victim to survivor, from bully to challenger from rescuer to supporter even when the world and those around me don't cooperate? It's a question worth exploring. Spoiler Alert! It's very possible!

In person available in Ladner.
You may be feeling overwhelmed by emotions that seem too big to carry... anger, grief, shame, fear or just complete shut down, a feeling of numbness. Perhaps you’re struggling to break patterns in relationships, heal from trauma and break out of survival mode. You may be longing to feel safe in your body again, to trust yourself, or even reconnect with your faith after being hurt in religious/ spiritual settings. My clients are often deep feelers and are highly sensitive and they want to live from a place of authenticity, peace and alignment with their true self and possibly also with God, in a way that feels safe and loving.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
