Have you ever wondered: How much of my problem is me generated and how much is other people or circumstances? You know you are responsible for making changes in your life and yet things happen that make that change seemingly impossible. How can I change my private self and how I relate outwardly? Can I move from victim to survivor, from bully to challenger from rescuer to supporter even when the world and those around me don't cooperate? It's a question worth exploring. Spoiler Alert! It's very possible!

"Life has many ways of testing a person's will, either by having nothing happen at all or by having everything happen all at once.” ― Paulo Coelho. We have the ability as humans to overcome adversity, trauma and life altering stressors. You may clearly know what is bothering you or it may be deep in your unconscious, regardless, there needs to be a feeling. Whether the feeling is the desire for change or the awareness that you need help; it is the first step in your healing. The goal is to process the feelings that hold you back, thus freeing up space for positive memories, healthy coping, and self compassion.

Art therapy is available as part of the process if you like.
Are you going through a transition that feels bigger than you expected? Maybe it's a career change, retirement, a relationship shift, or a period of burnout where your usual ways of coping aren't working anymore. If you're someone who feels deeply and tends to carry the weight of change more than most, these times can feel especially overwhelming.

Many people who find their way to my practice have already tried therapy. They're insightful, capable, and functional, yet still feel shaped by old relational patterns, chronic self-doubt, or a sense that something unresolved keeps showing up despite their best efforts. The work I do invites people to slow down and look closely at how their inner world has been organized by relationships, long-standing adaptations, and nervous system patterns. This is not short-term therapy. Sessions are relational, reflective, and often require tolerating discomfort as familiar strategies soften and new ways of relating to yourself emerge.

It can be challenging to articulate our emotions and experiences - using art materials in therapy can help us express and more deeply understand ourselves.
I will meet you with openness, unconditional positive regard, and empathy. I believe that you are the expert on your life and you already possess the wisdom and capacity needed to heal and grow. I believe in an unconditional gentleness and acceptance towards self, and in focusing on curiosity and play rather than productivity.

Using skills and diverse modalities such as problem-solving, creating healthy boundaries, person/client-centred, offering emotional support and holistic therapy, art therapy, Gottman Method etc.
Anxiety can be challenging to live with. Having a negative experience in life which may include separation, grief, loss, infidelity or an experience in the past can sometimes impact our wellbeing. We may find ourselves under stress and feeling exhausted with overwhelming emotions. Our family life and work life may be burning us out. I provide a safe environment for you to be yourself without judgement and for me to support your personalized goals for counselling. You may require an ear to listen, someone to problem solve with, or to explore why you may say or behave how you do. I use skills and training to support your needs.

As a Registered Clinical Counsellor, I work primarily with adults who may be feeling stuck, unseen, or emotionally exhausted—particularly those carrying the weight of multiple roles and the quiet expectation to hold everything together. These experiences often manifest as anxiety, perfectionism, or challenges within relationships. I also work with teens navigating self-esteem concerns, body image struggles, and the challenges of life transitions and I also offer counselling in Spanish—because some things are best expressed in your first language.

How does art therapy work?
The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?
Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?
The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?
Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
