Throughout this journey, I have supported people facing a wide range of concerns: anxiety and stress, depression, anger, relationship struggles, panic attacks, PTSD, low confidence, recovery from sexual assault or abuse, spiritual trauma, childhood trauma, and more.
My practice is grounded in a steady belief that healing begins with honesty. As a therapist, I create a structured and compassionate space for that honesty — a place to explore the stories, patterns, and wounds that shape how we live and love, with the aim of creating thoughtful, lasting change.

For many, counselling is an opportunity to evaluate life changes, relationships stressors, and attachment patterns. For others, it can be their only opportunity to emphasize time for themselves and to experience feeling like they are a priority. I recognize the courage and vulnerability it takes to self-reflect and identify areas which you would like to develop insight and emotional intelligence in. I encourage my clients to attach themselves to the process of personal growth and self-discovery rather than simply the end goal, as this creates opportunities to generate self-compassion and gratitude for your strengths and abilities.

The source usually stems from trauma causing fear based behaviour.
Realising that fear stops everyone from moving forward is key to creating a successful, grounded, happy life. Because once you have this awareness, you have the ability to change the state in which you have been living. ‘Your reality’ so to speak. Give yourself permission to be happy!

We may get stuck in worry and self-doubt, avoid meaningful activities, feel unable to let go of control, withdraw from relationships, shut down feelings, ruminate on past hurts, escape into TV, the internet, video games, drugs or alcohol, or get pulled into compulsive or impulsive behaviours.
I work from the premise that how you’ve been coping makes sense, even if it has been problematic. I work to shift the focus from you as a problem to fix, to building a rich and meaningful life. I have extensive training and experience working with individuals with anxiety and mood disorders, PTSD, concussion and other chronic health conditions.

My passion and focus is in 1) helping couples find the loving, secure connection they long for with each other, and 2) helping individuals heal from trauma and anxiety.
I want to understand you, and hear your story: how did you make sense of your world and your place in it as you grew up? What do you long for in your life and in your relationships? What strengths did you develop to survive and thrive over the course of your life? What do you see as holding you back from experiencing your best self and best life?

I strive to take an individualized approach to help clients work through commonly identified issues: anxiety, depression, stress, school, relationship, career, pain management, parenting, life/work balance, and other concerns.
It is perfectly normal to hit speed bumps or even complete road blocks in our lives. Whether big or small, counselling can help individuals feel connected and supported while they are experiencing and resolving challenges. In my practice, I focus on short-term goals such as immediate symptom relief, and long-term goals that explore more enduring patterns of thinking, feeling, and acting that often keep us stuck in our current challenges.

If you are curious about whether this feels like a good fit, I offer a free 60-minute consultation so we can talk through what's going on and what you're looking for.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
