My life has exposed me to the very best and worst of human potential.
We cannot change the events or situations of our past, but we can absolutely be free from being chronically impacted, and compacted by our history. You are entitled to all of your feelings and they are an integral part of healing and living a healthy life . If you are ready to move what you are holding to a new place, I am here to support that process. You can find your voice, unpack your story, be seen and heard, I bring tools and support to make the changes you would like to make, so that you can embrace your life with love and enthusiasm. In my mind, everyone who survived their story and makes it to counselling is a superhero.

I seek to help my clients with issues around stress (including Covid-19), self-esteem, anxiety, depression, grief, loss, life transitions and emotional wounds. Using a collaborative approach, I work with individuals to address family patterns and old systems of coping in order to gain an understanding of their present circumstances. I work with youth and adults to set goals that are realistic and allow for positive and successful outcomes in therapy. Self-awareness and self-care are important in all sessions and I encourage these with compassion and respect at all times. The needs of my clients are the main priority in sessions.

“Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we will ever do.” –Brené Brown. As your mentor or counsellor, I want to create a safe space for you to recognize and transform the life patterns of overwhelming anxiety or panic attacks, persistent stress from big life changes and events, distress from trauma, and pain from broken or disconnected relationships. Using both traditional and holistic healing methods, I'll show you how to nurture your emotional health, cultivate an inner strength and confidence, tap into love, and step into your power as a wise self-healer.

10-25% of women who birth or adopt a child develop postpartum depression or anxiety in the first three years of their child's life .
After 10 years of working with women and their families as a midwife, I am pleased to work with women and families in a counselling capacity. My practice is accessible to new mothers and mothers-to-be in clinic, on Skype and in clients homes. I offer individual, group and family counselling. After a practicum with CYMH I am passionate about working with children and often treat the family as an interconnected system.

Each of us has inner resources that can radically transform our life .
When we feel anxious, depressed, exhausted, isolated, lonely, lost or stuck for too long, it feels like we are caught in a web of pain. In order to ease the pain we may be drawn to addictive substances or behaviors to provide temporary relief. This might help in the short term but can have negative consequences if our addictive tendencies become destructive habits. At the root of our psychological pain are traumatic experiences from the past or negative attitudes toward our self. At our core we often have limiting or negative beliefs that keep us caught in a web of destructive habits. To heal, these beliefs need to be transformed.

A life and mind out of balance create stress, worry, anxiety, overthinking, indecision, depression, confusion, self-doubt and self-loathing. This can feel like an endless cycle of suffering, stagnation, or pain that is lasting "too long." Fulfillment and meaning in life arise when we learn to reconcile our thoughts with our experience, when we stop doing and simply be. Many find that sitting and talking in therapy help to an extent, but when we engage our felt sense and physical being, we begin to deeply know and develop trust in ourselves and in our ability to heal, cope and feel well. Art can offer the physical tools for healing.

Many of the problems we experience in life can be traced back to parts of ourself that are wounded or not properly integrated. I help you to reflect and make sense of your experience, and to work through areas of your life that bring discomfort. In moving through these discomforts/stuck areas in a new way, you release these wounds, become free from their grasp & move into more aligned, embodied & authentic living. We cannot fully integrate (become whole in our life ) unless we heal and integrate all parts (this includes shadow work, healing parental and childhood wounds, ego work, sacred sexuality, reprogramming belief systems).

I have been supporting children & youth, and their families for the past 17 years in public education. I facilitate workshops and also do group counselling. I have a strong background in special education, which means I often observe the behaviour(s) of children and youth, collaborate with them and their families, and implement/teach tools for alleviating a child's stress. I have experience as a clinician for Adult Mental Health & Addictions in both inpatient and outpatient care from the hospital. This has benefited early recognition and prevention.

Life Coaching Counsellors
Life coaches counsel individuals as they work toward and fulfill their goals. Life coaches and career coaches help people identify, pursue, and achieve their objectives—often in the professional domain but in others as well—with a results-driven, action-oriented approach.
