Zoë (she/her) understands that healing happens in relationship—within the safety of being truly seen, heard, and understood without judgment. Her practice is built on the foundation that when we feel genuinely witnessed, our nervous system can shift into a state that promotes deep healing, allowing us to reconnect with our inherent wisdom and resilience. Drawing from a rich toolkit of evidence-based modalities—including AEDP, ISTP, ACT, IFS, EFT, somatic therapy, and couples work—Zoë’s approach remains fundamentally client-centred. She meets each person exactly where they are, fostering a collaborative therapeutic relationship.

Imagine you’re sitting across from each other again…
Not as enemies. Not as strangers. Just… you two. Imagine your hands don’t pull away this time.
Imagine your eyes meet—and don’t look down. Imagine the words you never said…
finally finding their way out. Imagine the silence isn’t heavy—
it’s safe. Imagine the anger softens…
and underneath it, something honest is still there.
Imagine a kind of love that still has dignity—
respect, even in the pain. Maybe nothing is the same as before.
But maybe… something real is still possible. You don’t have to imagine it alone. Couples Counselling — where the conversation begins again.

Do you ever feel like you're doing everything "right" but still aren't as happy as you'd hoped? Perhaps you're constantly worrying about what others think, struggling with self-doubt, feeling disconnected in your relationship, or carrying the weight of everyone else's needs while neglecting your own. Maybe you're successful on paper but still feel overwhelmed, stuck, or like you're just getting through life rather than truly enjoying it. My clients are often caring, capable, and hardworking people who have reached a point where their old ways of coping are no longer working.

16 years in full time practice, & 6 years as a peer counselling volunteer. A combined 22 years of experience. Since beginning in practice I have logged over 16000+ direct client hours. In that time I have helped a number of individuals, and couples overcome obstacles to their health and well-being. I offer a collaborative, psycho-educational, research based treatment strategy to clients whom are challenged in multiple areas of functioning. Therapeutic progress, change readiness are seem as dependant on a number of variables, and in my experience are extremely qualitative (individually dependant); so no 1 size fits all!

Imago Counsellors
How does Imago therapy work?
Imago relationship therapy is a form of couples counseling meant to help partners address conflict, communication problems, and related issues. Imago sessions typically involve couples sitting facing each other and participating in guided conversations. Therapy will also involve exercises such as re-imagining one’s partner as a wounded child; re-romanticising a relationship through appreciation, surprises, and even gift-giving and restructuring frustrations by transforming complaints into requests. The ultimate goal is to re-envision the relationship as a source of safety and happiness.

What is the Imago method?
A core technique of Imago therapy is the Imago dialogue, in which partners learn to avoid hurtful statements and establish ways to interact based on each having equal space and power. In the dialogue, partners take turns as the “sender,” who shares their thoughts, and the “receiver.” The receiver is asked to “mirror,” or paraphrase, what their partner has said, without response or rebuttal, and then validate their statements, acknowledging understanding even if they do not personally agree with it. Finally, the receiver displays empathy by stating what they imagine the other is feeling, and showing appreciation for it.

How long does Imago therapy take?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for Imago therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core techniques of Imago coaching, some couples quickly make progress, but most should expect sessions to extend for months, encompassing at least 12 to 20 sessions, along with extensive “homework” from their therapist.

Does Imago therapy work?
There is limited empirical evidence to support the benefits of Imago therapy, but some smaller studies suggest that it does help couples, at least in the short-term. A 2017 study found that marital satisfaction increased significantly after couples completed 12 sessions of Imago therapy, and remained higher for some time after that, but did not always result in “complete recovery.” Other studies found greater empathy and fewer feelings of relationship burnout in couples after therapy. Some research suggests that Imago therapy can aid individuals as well as couples; people with ADHD in particular may benefit from the development of communication, self-control, and listening skills that form the basis of the technique.
