If you’re feeling stuck in painful patterns, weighed down by anxiety, grief, or past trauma, or struggling to connect in your relationships, you’re not broken—you’re human. Many of the people we work with at Lotus Therapy & Counselling Centre feel like they’re carrying emotions too big to hold alone. They’ve spent years trying to push through, make sense of it all, or just "be strong," only to find themselves exhausted, disconnected, or unsure of how to move forward. We go beyond traditional talk therapy to tackle the root causes of your struggles, not just the symptoms.

I am an engaged member of the queer community and am particularly practiced in supporting other gay, bisexual, and queer men.
I strive to offer a therapeutic experience that is both connecting and informed. I believe that under ideal circumstances, we engage with our lives in ways that promote wellness and growth. Conversely, the imperfections of existence can promote unhelpful or distorted thoughts, distressing feelings, or uncomfortable patterns of behaviour.

You've been surviving for so long it started to feel like living. Whether you've responded to others' worst moments professionally, or lived through your own, trauma has a way of settling into the body, the nervous system, and the stories we tell about ourselves. My clients are first responders and adults carrying complex or developmental trauma who are ready for something deeper than talk therapy. Using Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems, and Narrative Therapy, we work with your whole self not just what you can put into words. Healing isn't about forgetting. It's about finally feeling safe enough to come home to yourself

You may be the person everyone relies on—the one who keeps going and appears fine on the outside while feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or emotionally exhausted underneath. I work with adults and women experiencing anxiety, burnout, stress, trauma, low self-worth, grief, relationship challenges, and life transitions. Many struggle with overthinking, people-pleasing, and self-criticism. Together, we'll explore patterns that keep you stuck, build practical coping tools, and help you feel more grounded, confident, and emotionally steady. You don't have to carry it all alone.

I have a passion for exploring and finding the power of our minds to help us heal. I immigrated to Canada in my early thirties and have experienced loss in my life. These experiences have shaped who I am as a person and a counsellor today. I believe when you understand the pain of healing you can uncover your innate strengths and make more mindful choices. My approach is gentle, but focused and I believe in creating a caring and safe environment for clients to explore challenges in their lives. I use the wisdom of the mind and the body to guide our work. I have worked as a counsellor since 1995 and I have extensive experience

You might look like you’re holding it together on the outside, but inside feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or exhausted. Maybe you’ve been through experiences that still live in your body (tightness, anxiety, numbness) even after years of trying to “talk it through.” You want more than coping strategies and you want to feel safer in your body, more present in your relationships, and less controlled by the past. I work especially well with adults who haven’t found relief in traditional talk therapy.

Seeing a wide variety of clients with mental health disorders such as anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, or even PTSD, changed me and really made me realize and appreciate just how unique each of us are. We all learn and operate differently, and taking the time and effort to find out what works for each of my clients helps them to make genuine progress in their lives. The bond that we create opens up a safe space where they feel comfortable sharing without pressure, fear of judgement or ridicule. I fully believe this unconditional positive regard and empathy can help one feel full and worthy. This is your ship, let me help guide!

I believe we all thrive when we have healthy connections. I believe this also to be the foundation of effective therapy. As such, building a healthy relationship is always my first goal when working with a new client. Just as we thrive with healthy connections, in my experience, challenging or confusing times tend to feel lonely and isolated. By providing a non-judgmental ear to listen, I am confident that we can alleviate that isolating feeling together. We can work through your life's stressors, determine the best ways to meet your individual needs, tap into your strengths, and fulfill your potential for joy, peace, and purpose.

Are you struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship pain, or simply feeling stuck?> If so, you’re not alone, and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself. I hope to create a space for real conversations, not checklists, where you can show up just as you are. Growth can be messy, and often feel like a "2 steps forward, 1 step back" kind of process, and that’s part of being human. Together, we’ll move at your pace, with curiosity, compassion, and care. If you’re ready to take your first step to try something new together, I’ll be honoured to walk alongside you.

As a therapist, I thrive working with clients navigating cultural identity, mental health stigma, or life transitions. My ideal client seeks clarity, growth, and authentic connection. They may feel overwhelmed by societal pressures, family expectations, or personal struggles but are motivated to explore, heal, and redefine their narrative. Together, we focus on fostering resilience, self-compassion, and empowerment. If you value intersectional approaches and want a safe, supportive space to unpack challenges, embrace growth, and build meaningful change, let’s connect.

Believing that we, as humans, are shaped by our lived experiences, I developed a deep passion for attachment work. I specialize in attachment-focused EMDR therapy, informed by Parts Work and existential therapy. I have worked in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside and within LGBTQ2S communities, where I developed a profound appreciation for the many diverse paths to healing. My journey began with a focus on substance use, and over time, that path led me toward specializing in trauma. Today, I support a wide range of individuals in reconnecting with their calm, curious, connected, compassionate, clear, courageous, confident, and creative.

LGBTQ+ Counsellors
Do LGBTQ-affirmative therapists receive special training?
Yes. Many therapists who practice LGBTQ-affirmative therapy have completed specialised training, either during their degree programme or as continuing education, to learn the core principles of affirmative therapy and how to best support their LGBTQ clients; some have received certifications in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy. Prospective clients should inquire as to a clinician’s background and training to ensure a good fit.

Why might I want to see an LGBTQ-affirming or LGBTQ-friendly therapist?
Queer and gender-non-conforming individuals frequently experience bias and marginalisation in day-to-day life. Working with a therapist who understands these unique challenges, as well as accepts and affirms their identity, can help LGBTQ clients feel safe and supported during therapy—allowing them to better navigate their relationships, mental health, and anything else that they wish to explore during therapy. It is important to note that many therapists can be effective in their work with LGBTQ+ individuals, even in the absence of specific training or background knowledge. The most important component in therapy is the alliance between therapist and client, and this alliance can exist between individuals with very different backgrounds.

How can I find an LGBTQ-friendly therapist?
You may wish to inquire about a therapist’s expertise with your specific challenges or concerns—depression, for example, or relationship strife—as well as their past experiences treating LGBTQ+ clients. Prospective clients may also ask whether a therapist has obtained additional training and/or certification in LGBTQ-affirmative techniques.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with LGBTQ issues?
Prospective clients should feel empowered to directly ask therapists whether they have received training or been certified in LGBTQ-affirming therapy; competent therapists will be happy to explain their educational background and preferred approach(es) to help a client find the best match for them. Clients may also wish to ask how a therapist has treated clients with their particular challenges in the past and what they expect treatment to look like.

Are all the therapists listed in the LGBTQ directory themselves members of the LGBTQ community?
While therapists may choose to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity in their profiles, the LGBTQ directory features not only those who have shared this information but also those who assert specialised training or experience in providing support to queer individuals, couples or families.
