My approach draws heavily from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and anti-oppressive frameworks.

I frequently use Cognitive and Dialectical Behavioural Therapies ( CBT , DBT) and Mindfulness.
I believe that all human beings have a remarkable ability to grow and change. Some clients come to me with a great deal of depression or hopelessness about their lives without the insight as to how they can be helped. I use a strengths-based approach as I listen to their stories to find the hope, possibilities, and resiliencies that coexist alongside suffering and insecurities. All therapies are evidenced-based and trauma informed.

For me, counselling is about discovering tools that will help you to heal and develop better relationships with yourself and others by letting go of anxiety, depression, and stress. Let me guide you in new ways to be in healthy relationships and align with the life that you envision for yourself and/or your loved ones. The first step in any growth is self-awareness, our sessions together will help guide you to learn how to become self-aware in all situations and how to process daily events that may be significant in life, or may only seem to be significant due to your current outlook.

Struggles with anxiety or depression, or suffering through grief, loss and trauma can make it feel like your goals are always out of reach. I hold Level 2 Accreditation in Trauma-Focused CBT and a Certificate in DBT.
I support adults who are dealing with issues related to self-care, self worth, unresolved emotional wounds, body acceptance or weight concerns, chronic illness/pain, disability, anxiety, depression, relationship/family conflict, and grief/loss. The people who seek out my services are looking for a safe place where they will be deeply heard and understood, and where they will find acceptance and compassion. Many of my clients have not experienced positive regard as a normal part of their lives, and had childhoods that were not sufficiently nurturing. I know that healing begins when a person is fully heard, validated, and affirmed.

Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) Counsellors
Cognitive-behavioral therapy stresses the role of thinking in how we feel and what we do. It is based on the belief that thoughts, rather than people or events, cause our negative feelings. The therapist assists the client in identifying, testing the reality of, and correcting dysfunctional beliefs underlying his or her thinking. The therapist then helps the client modify those thoughts and the behaviors that flow from them. CBT is a structured collaboration between therapist and client and often calls for homework assignments.
