Now is the time to begin — even the smallest step can spark meaningful change. Life can sometimes feel heavier than expected. You might find yourself not quite feeling like yourself — your thoughts may be scattered, your emotions more intense, or your relationships more strained. Whether it’s anxiety, parenting stress, or relationship struggles, these challenges can feel isolating. And if you're an immigrant, navigating cultural differences can also be emotionally draining at times.

I'm Claudia, a Registered Masters level Social worker who has been supporting families since 2011. I have supported individuals and children in overcoming everything from daily stressors to traumatic life experiences and managing complex family dynamics. I believe that all of us have the innate capacity to heal from trauma and overcome personal challenges, and I aim to provide a safe, non-judgmental space to facilitate movement towards that path. My approach is grounded in providing a collaborative and inclusive environment where individuals can explore their emotions freely, and learn strategies to address their concerns.

Children and families are often referred to me by other counsellors or health professionals because "the kid refuses to talk or cooperate" or "we tried everything and nothing works". Families often seek my specialties to explore their children's behaviours and challenges from the developmental lens. Neurodivergent children look forward to seeing me because they feel I am safe, and fun, and can easily connect with them in a special and meaningful way. I cannot work with autistic children receiving ABA treatment as it is contraindicative with my strong commitment to neurodiversity affirmative and disability ethical principles.

I am accepting new clients! Are you struggling to regulate your emotions? Do you feel like you're riding unpredictable waves of intensity? Or perhaps the opposite, feeling numb and disconnected, unable to fully experience life? Maybe you find yourself lying awake at night, exhausted but unable to rest. Your relationships feel strained, and if you're a parent, the weight of your to-do list can feel overwhelming. You might notice a constant undercurrent of anxiety; a sense of dread that's hard to shake, even when things seem "fine."

Your mind understands your story, but your body hasn't found peace yet. For women and mothers navigating the silent weight of daily life, it can feel like a series of plateaus. You are doing everything right, yet you remain stuck in survival mode. This exhaustion often ripples through the family. I see it in children and youth carrying hurdles they do not yet have the words to describe. When a person feels depleted or a child struggles, these plateaus can make meaningful change feel impossible. I provide a space where you are truly understood, allowing the heavy layers to finally lift.

Most of us desire to live our lives with a sense of confidence, purpose, and closeness with others, but difficult life experiences can lead us to build walls for protection and safety, and as a result, we can lose our sense of connection with ourselves and others. If you are here, you may be feeling some combination of lost, alone, stuck, anxious, afraid, unsure, frustrated or angry, overwhelmed, grief, worried, low, sad and/or depressed. We can work together to help you bring a greater sense of control, satisfaction, and ease into your life.

Our practice supports children and families navigating emotional and behavioral challenges. We often see children who find it difficult to express complex feelings through words alone, often leading to frustration or withdrawal at home or school. By using play—the natural language of children—we provide a safe, therapeutic space where they can process experiences, develop coping skills, and build emotional resilience. Our goal is to help families move forward by strengthening the parent-child bond and fostering a more harmonious home environment

People often seek out therapy when they are facing pain and uncertainty — as well they should — but working with a therapist doesn’t need to be something that only happens in a moment of crisis or at the breaking point of a relationship. Therapy is also ideal during times of transition when you simply need some extra support and perspective. You owe it to yourself to take time for focus and reflection. Emotional intelligence and healthy coping skills have extraordinary value, and you should consider therapy to be an investment in your own personal wisdom. You are the expert on your life.

Hello! I'm Meredith MacKenzie and I help women who feel out of control with food, tired of swinging from dieting to binge eating, leading to feel shame about their eating. You know the ins and outs of "healthy eating" but it just doesn't seem to work, and you blame yourself. You want freedom from food, to be able to eat what you love without overeating, and have a better relationship with your body. You want to be more attuned to your hunger and fullness cues and at peace with food, so you can more fully participate in your life without your feelings about your body or emotional eating looming over you. You deserve more.

FAQ - About Therapy for Toddlers and Preschoolers
What are the behavioural signs indicating a toddler might need counselling?
Common behavioural signs that a child may need counselling include high levels of emotional distress or anxiety, learning challenges, interpersonal conflict, anger, or social withdrawal. Any drastic changes in toddler behaviour or self-esteem can be indicative that a child may benefit from therapy. Seeing a therapist at the early stages of any behavioural changes can be most impactful on behaviour, as well as helpful to caregivers who may receive guidance on what symptoms to look for in their child in the future, even if therapy is not warranted at that time.

Can a two-year-old see a psychologist?
Children and adults of all ages can see psychologists and other forms of mental health professionals, such as counsellors, psychiatrists, and social workers. Families seeking therapy for their toddler should just be aware that any guidance they seek should come from a professional who has specific experience working with young children, as well as the specific modalities that are appropriate for young children, such as play therapy.

What is the most effective type of therapy for toddlers and preschoolers?
In general, play therapy is the most effective and common form of therapy for young children. Play therapy helps facilitate behaviour change by offering an age-appropriate way for children to express their emotions and develop more effective coping strategies. Toddlers with specific concerns may benefit from more specialised forms of therapy, such as Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) therapy for children with autism or Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) for toddlers in families in which there is significant parent-child relational conflict.

What happens during therapy sessions for toddlers?
What occurs in therapy sessions for toddlers depends on the therapeutic approach being used by the therapist. Most toddler therapists will use some form of play therapy in sessions to encourage toddler engagement. In play therapy sessions, children are encouraged to use toys within the therapy setting to express their emotions; subsequent responses by the therapist and/or family members can help guide toddler behaviour and behaviour change. Toddler therapy sessions can also involve family therapy or Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), which can help improve parenting behaviours and reduce strain on families.
