Life's challenges can often feel overwhelming, leaving us seeking answers and solutions. I believe in tailoring therapy to each individual's unique needs, fostering a collaborative and empathetic environment where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and concerns. My therapeutic toolbox includes evidence-based techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), the Jungian approach, Brief Therapy (Combining Gestalt and Hypnosis) and existential therapy. By integrating these approaches, we can work together to identify patterns, untangle complexities, and nurture lasting positive change.

Something brought you here. Maybe it’s anxiety that won’t resolve, a relationship pattern you can see but can’t shift, or a quieter sense that your life doesn’t quite fit. I’m a somatic, depth-informed counsellor. I pay close attention—not just to your story, but to your body, nervous system, and the patterns underneath. Most therapy focuses on pain or regulation. I track something else: when you become more present, coherent, more yourself—the signal of life within you. When you come into contact with what’s real, something shifts. I follow that. It shows where life is moving.

Do you struggle with constant worry, anxiety, and fear of being judged? Are you exhausted by trying to live up to others’ standards and feeling like you’re not enough? Do you replay and scrutinize how you act in social situations and feel guilty, embarrassed, or ashamed for how you behaved? Many people struggle with anxiety and will have tried dozens of strategies to make it stop by the time they come to see me, but none of them have worked. Some have tried other therapies, often ones that focus on changing the way they think, but they still FEEL the same. That’s where I can help.

Zoë (she/her) understands that healing happens in relationship—within the safety of being truly seen, heard, and understood without judgment. Her practice is built on the foundation that when we feel genuinely witnessed, our nervous system can shift into a state that promotes deep healing, allowing us to reconnect with our inherent wisdom and resilience. Drawing from a rich toolkit of evidence-based modalities—including AEDP, ISTP, ACT, IFS, EFT, somatic therapy, and couples work—Zoë’s approach remains fundamentally client-centred. She meets each person exactly where they are, fostering a collaborative therapeutic relationship.

As a Registered Clinical Counsellor/Psychotherapist with 25 years of experience working with individuals, couples, and families, I use a client-centred, integrative approach to address the therapeutic goals of clients. No one should be defined by their diagnoses, and rather than placing emphasis on what is not working, I collaborate with clients to determine what actions can be taken to improve on their circumstances. All individuals exist along their own continuum of mental health, and with adequate supports and a focus on holistic well-being, every client can be nurtured towards growth and a healthier sense of self.

My expertise is in working with difficulties related to relational dynamics, especially those found in Asian/Asian North American contexts and families. In addition to having lived in Hong Kong, I've worked diverse clients in Los Angeles and Vancouver and I enjoy working with people who are hoping to make better sense of themselves and others from multiple perspectives. Former clients of mine regularly feel as though they are more aware of their "blind spots", are more free to make good life choices, and are prepared to have more fulfilling relationships overall.

My approach to counselling is a psychodynamic, person-centred, and trauma-informed approach. The psychodynamic approach can help us gain new insights into our lives, and by integrating art into the session, it can become a powerful mind-body-oriented resource for individuals to look into themselves, and at their concerns, from a different angle.

Does psychoanalytic therapy work?
Psychoanalytic therapy derives from the work of Sigmund Freud. In this type of therapy, discovering buried thoughts and emotions from the unconscious will help a person work through their difficulties and negative behaviours. Research shows that psychoanalytic therapy can be highly effective, with patients reporting improvement in mood, quality of life, and overall well-being.

How long are people typically in psychoanalytic therapy?
Traditional psychoanalysis is in-depth and is conducted in five sessions every week. Today, modern psychoanalytic therapy is less intense and normally incorporates as few as one or two sessions a week. In some cases, positive change can occur quickly. However, if the condition, difficulty, or behaviour is deep-seated, improvement may require many months or years of therapy.

Is psychoanalytic therapy suitable for young people?
Children and adolescents can benefit from this type of therapy. Many kids and teens are often unable to form and communicate their thoughts and emotions. Psychoanalytic therapy uses specific techniques such as dream analysis, symbolism, and free association or word association; all of which can be useful tools for less-communicative young people. Through this therapy, a patient will hopefully make connections between what they feel inside and how the world works outside.

Can psychoanalytic therapy be done online?
Modern-day psychoanalytic therapy is very different from traditional psychoanalysis. While an individual can sit face-to-face with the psychoanalyst for multiple sessions a week, they do not have to. Today, psychoanalytic therapy can be effectively conducted online or by phone. The key is that the individual confronts what is repressed and avoided, and this can be done whether in person or over online video.
