On the surface, you may appear to be managing, but internally you feel overwhelmed, worn down, or unsure of your direction. I help people navigate stress, relationship pressure, and the weight of expectations, with a particular focus on supporting men who are carrying a lot while trying to keep things together on the outside. Many of the challenges I work with—such as stress, relationship pressure, and feeling stuck—are often tied to deeper patterns around self‑worth, shaped by family expectations and internalized criticism.

I work with youth, adults, and families who may feel overwhelmed, stuck, or alone in what they are carrying. Even when things look “fine” on the outside, it can be exhausting to keep holding everything together on your own. Many clients come to therapy while navigating anxiety, stress, life transitions, or relationship challenges. Often, they’re trying to make sense of what they’re feeling and looking for a way forward that feels more manageable. I offer a steady and supportive space where you can slow down, better understand your thoughts and emotions, and begin to move forward with more clarity and direction.

As your counselor, I create a calm and compassionate space for you to tell your story. My clients often come in stating that they feel stuck no matter how hard they try to change. Often times they feel tired of the same setbacks, don't know how to move forward or that their past trauma continually effects their present day functioning. Traumatic events push nervous systems outside the ability to regulate itself and for some the system gets stuck in the 'on' position causing anxiety, anger, panic or more. There's an overwhelming sense of 'what is wrong with me' with a need to feel more in-control and at peace again.

Overcoming life’s hardships can be challenging. You may find yourself trapped in a cycle of sadness, low self-esteem, fear, and loneliness. These concerns may be affecting your relationships, career, and overall ability to enjoy life. When you feel unheard and unimportant, it can lead to self-doubt, guilt, and a sense of worthlessness. However, deep down, you know there is something more out there waiting for you.

You were never meant to carry it all alone. Some days, the weight of old wounds, unkind inner voices, and invisible expectations can feel like too much to hold. In our work together, I offer a space where your story is welcomed in its entirety - the raw, the vulnerable, and the real. I will meet you with warmth, compassion, and curiosity, while gently supporting you in stepping into new possibilities that feel right for you.

Our practice supports children and families navigating emotional and behavioral challenges. We often see children who find it difficult to express complex feelings through words alone, often leading to frustration or withdrawal at home or school. By using play—the natural language of children—we provide a safe, therapeutic space where they can process experiences, develop coping skills, and build emotional resilience. Our goal is to help families move forward by strengthening the parent-child bond and fostering a more harmonious home environment

My ideal clients are parents caring for children with special learning needs such as ADHD, autism, or dyslexia. As a counsellor, I understand the challenges they face daily—managing their children’s emotional struggles, addressing school concerns, coping with social difficulties, and dealing with misunderstandings from family or society. These pressures often leave parents feeling overwhelmed, anxious, and guilty. These parents need more than parenting advice; they need a safe, non-judgmental space where they feel heard and understood. They seek empathy, not criticism, and someone to support them through their journey.

Children and families are often referred to me by other counsellors or health professionals because "the kid refuses to talk or cooperate" or "we tried everything and nothing works". Families often seek my specialties to explore their children's behaviours and challenges from the developmental lens. Neurodivergent children look forward to seeing me because they feel I am safe, and fun, and can easily connect with them in a special and meaningful way. I cannot work with autistic children receiving ABA treatment as it is contraindicative with my strong commitment to neurodiversity affirmative and disability ethical principles.

FAQ - Asian Counselling
What can an Asian therapist help with?
An Asian therapist can help with the same concerns as any other therapist, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, stress, grief, and major life transitions. How an Asian therapist can make the experience feel different, however, is the possibility of shared cultural understanding. If you identify with a background such as Chinese, Indian, Filipino, Pakistani, Korean, Vietnamese, or Japanese, working with a therapist who shares or understands aspects of your culture may help you feel more comfortable opening up on such topics.

What role can language play in therapy?
Language can play an important role in therapy because people often express emotions, family dynamics, and personal experiences differently depending on the language they are speaking. For some individuals, working with a therapist who speaks their native language, whether it be Mandarin, Cantonese, Hindi, Korean, Vietnamese, or another language, may help sessions feel more natural and emotionally connected. Even if you are fluent in English, certain thoughts or feelings may still feel easier to communicate in your native language.

How can an Asian therapist support couples counseling or family therapy?
Cultural background can play an important role in couples counseling and family therapy, particularly when family expectations, communication styles, generational differences, or cultural traditions are influencing the relationship. An Asian therapist may help partners and family members navigate these topics with more cultural understanding and less need to explain the context behind them. For multicultural or multilingual families, a Asian therapist who is bilingual may also help ensure that each person feels heard and understood during sessions.

How might I inquire about a therapist’s experience with Asian clients?
If cultural background is important to you in therapy, it can be helpful to ask prospective therapists whether they have experience working with clients who share your cultural background or speak your preferred language. In initial conversations with potential therapists, you might also ask whether they have worked with clients experiencing concerns related to identity, intergenerational conflict, family expectations, or cultural stigma around mental health.

Who is included in Psychology Today’s directory of Asian therapists?
The directory of Asian therapists includes professionals who have shared their ethnicity in their profiles. Psychology Today uses this information to assist clients in finding a therapist who can provide a cultural match. However, not all therapists choose to disclose their ethnicity in their profiles, and they may not appear in search results for this reason; also, when the number of therapists identified as Asian is limited, the directory will also show therapists with comprehensive experience working with clients from relevant backgrounds.
