As a man, therapy might not be your preferred use of time, yet a growing part of you is curious about what could be. Throughout your life, you’ve felt minimized and closed off from your potential. Maybe you’ve grown curious about that. You know you have lots to offer, but you are uncertain of what that could look like. You want to gain confidence and independence to realize your dreams or control your addictions, but you haven’t found someone who cares or understands enough to provide you with the support you need. You are noticing a new excitement and motivation to connect with yourself and others in a healthier way.

If you’re the kind of person who overthinks everything, feels pressure to keep it together, and rarely talks about your own struggles, therapy can be a place to finally exhale. I work with people who feel stuck between expectations, relationships, and their own inner pressure, helping them slow down, understand their patterns, and move toward a life that feels more meaningful and aligned.

It’s tough trying to find the right counsellor, especially if your plate's already pretty full. Most people I work with are carrying stress, uncertainty, or an impression that things shouldn’t be this hard. You don’t need perfect words or a clear plan when we meet - just a sense that it’s time for things to go a bit differently. In sessions, you can expect to build skills to take care of yourself, your life, and others with greater clarity and compassion. Regardless of what we focus on, know that you'll be welcomed exactly as you are. You’ll find an environment where all parts of you can be seen, understood, and respected.

Who am I? Why don’t I feel anything? Why do I just “numb out” with TV, with drinking, or with endless scrolling? Why do I have no energy? What was I put on this earth to do? These questions and more have become all too common in our society. “Purpose” and “authenticity” have become popular buzzwords, but what do they mean? “Rock bottom” isn’t the end. Rather, it is the point where you decide “enough is enough” and take action toward the person you were meant to be.

Hi there, thanks for stopping by. Finding a counsellor who feels like the right fit can take time, and sometimes reaching out can be one of the hardest steps. Whether you’re facing something new or carrying something that’s been with you for a long while, therapy can offer a space to pause, reflect, and begin to make sense of what’s happening in your life. My approach is based on person-centred, trauma-informed and intersectional approaches. I often draw from Narrative Therapy, helping clients explore the stories that shape their lives and discover new ways of understanding themselves.

As a depth therapist, I am less concerned with the ways you've tried to "fake it till you make it", and more interested in what you truly feel and desire at the deepest level. While tools and coping mechanisms have their place, I believe lasting change happens at the root. My practice draws on Jungian psychoanalysis, psychodynamic uncovering, and experiential dynamics to help you uncover what feels stuck. Together we will work toward new, creative solutions. Clients who seem to get the most out of work with me are typically thoughtful and reflective in nature, with a willingness to go deeper in order to understand themselves.

Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.

How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.

What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
