I’m Christy, and I’m glad you’re here. I work with people who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure what’s holding them back. I have worked with many people regarding their trauma, life's everyday struggles or difficult intimate partner relationships. Many want to feel calmer, more grounded, and in control of their emotions. With over 30 years of experience, I offer a safe, gentle space to explore your story, reconnect with your body, and calm your nervous system so you can hear what you need and make sense of your feelings. Our work moves at your pace. You don’t have to face this alone; your story matters. I am here.

outdoors, in office, online?
Life. Life often nudges us out of sync. Is your story a soliloquy, a curious relationship, or a quandary of what is ahead? Are you fighting anxiety, doubting familiar patterns, or an undefinable unsettled feeling? I commend your search seeking deeper peace and purpose; I offer a calm, thoughtful space to explore the peculiar and unfold your stories. Sometimes that means sitting with a question a little longer than usual; together, we might note patterns, deepen understanding, and open up new viewpoints. I offer sessions in a peaceful country setting just minutes from town, online, or as walk-and-talk conversations in nature.

As a counsellor I hope to model grace, courage, and genuineness to my clients while I come along side them, and act as a resource for positive change in their lives. I have a warm, engaging, and professional demeanour that helps clients feel at ease, supported, and able to embrace the delicate balance between risk, hope, and trust. Most importantly, I want my clients to know that it is an absolute privilege that they invite me into their lives to share on their journey with them. This may include helping my clients with concerns relating to their personal growth, wellness, relationships, mental health, and/or psychological distress.

In-person in Chilliwack, BC & telehealth across Canada
You're self-aware, you've likely done therapy before, and understand yourself well, yet something still feels stuck. Not in your thoughts, but in your body and nervous system, the way you brace, shut down, or push through when life feels overwhelming & hard. You may be navigating chronic stress, burnout, complex trauma, chronic pain or relationship issues, often while appearing to hold it all together on the outside. If talking about it hasn't been enough, and you sense there is a deeper layer waiting to be reached, you may be ready for a different kind of work. One that works with your whole self, not just your mind.

Accepting new in person adult, child and youth clients in Chilliwack.
When anxiety, depression, grief, and stress feel never ending, we can find ourselves reacting in ways we wouldn’t normally or having perpetual frustration and disconnection with ourselves, others, and the world. It can feel like our situation, relationships, and mental health won’t or can’t get better. From both my professional and personal experience, I have seen the relief and power that comes from the courageous step to seek support and how connection with safe and supportive people can help heal and restore us. I am also trained and experienced in supporting children with play therapy.

Each of us can be impacted by anxiety, stress, trauma and relationship difficulties as we go through life. I assist individuals in processing difficult emotions and experiences, navigating life transitions, learning new coping and relationship skills as well as exploring identity and developing a strong sense of self. Systemic discrimination has a profound impact on mental health, and I aim to offer safe counselling services to queer, trans, non-binary, neurodiverse and culturally diverse clients. I believe that every person is the expert and author of their life story, and my role is to assist you in writing the next chapter.

I offer in-person appointments in Chilliwack and virtual appointments across BC.
I offer relational counselling, which means I believe the connection between us really matters. The therapeutic relationship itself can open up new pathways to healing. Sometimes just being truly seen and understood can shift things in powerful ways. You don’t have to have it all figured out. We’ll make sense of it, together.

Parenting is the most invested relationship one can partake in. There are many tasks and challenges involved in guiding little people towards becoming adults. Life can force families to face events that impact their ability to feel safe and function successfully. This is when it becomes key to incorporate "it takes a whole community to raise a child", and I believe that people do the best they can with what they know. I have dedicated 25 years to helping children express their needs. And I can along with this increase your "knowing" so that we can enrich your family relationships and increase your tolerance for the difficult stuff

In addition to being a Registered Clinical Counsellor, I was the executive director and founding partner of Vitality Collective for 7+ years, leading a province-wide virtual mental health clinic with several in-person offices in BC.
It's a common misconception that you need to hit "rock bottom" before starting counselling. Whether you're in a season of life where you're looking for insight, needing some guidance in making a shift or transition, wanting to change but not being sure how, hurting badly and feeling hopeless, carrying a burden of past traumas and memories, or you've reached your limit—counselling can help. With nearly 10 years of counselling experience my aim is to help you process the past to be able to archive it, so you can be both authentic and present to your life now, while moving towards what you value and your future.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
