I help adults who want to be confident and enjoy life but are feeling stuck and are experiencing anxiety, stress, depression or work and career challenges. I also help couples who want to feel closer and more connected but are having challenges in that regard. My areas of care include trauma, anxiety, panic attacks, shame, anger, grief, communication and vocational direction. My clinical focus uses an attachment-based, trauma informed approach in counselling. I am trained in the integration of different models of counselling. I work with individuals, couples and families.

Although certainly open to journeying with any and all who may arrive at my door; I hold particular interest in helping Marriages and Relationships (full-family & couple) build unions that are enjoyed rather than endured; helping Military (serving & veteran); First Responders (Police, Fire, EMS) and other health professionals (Medical staff, Social Workers, and other Therapists) address the complex trauma and unique dynamic(s) their respective profession brings; and finally, I wish to help men develop, or regain their confidence and self-esteem/image in an effort to keep them from falling victim to suicide and self-harm.

With over 10 years of strength and mindset coaching, I have come to see the value of combining the training of the mind and body. My approach as a therapist evolves from this, appreciating the uniqueness of each individual. As an athlete, I am fascinated by what we can do and how we can create our own story and journey. Providing culturally sensitive and anti-oppressive therapy is one of the key focuses of my practice. I have had a culturally rich upbringing that encouraged and fostered multiculturalism throughout my life and has furthered my curiosity and appreciation for diversity and inclusiveness.

I aim to work with you collaboratively to enable individuals to solve their social/emotional concerns. Over the years I’ve supported individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, stress management, coping skills, self harming behaviours, relationship issues and parent teen conflict. I understand stressors of life and how they may have an impact on individuals. Thus I seek to help individuals locate themselves in their daily situations, reflect and influence positive change.

You’re dealing with a lot; feeling guilty and confused. Guilty for not loving more or trying harder. They’re telling you these things - it must be true, right? They were charismatic and charming, showering you with PDA and compliments, but it all changed. You’re embarrassing they say, and now you feel trapped and broken. You’re not alone. It's not your fault. You Google “abusive relationships” and read about narcissistic abuse. That’s your life! You need guidance. I know this because I needed it too. I chased “good enough” trying to “behave well” for my family. After college, I married and divorced a narcissist who always blamed me.

Take a deep breath—you've already taken the first step by considering therapy. I know life can feel like a whirlwind sometimes, especially when it comes to relationships with ourself and others and figuring out our place in the world. It's like we're all navigating this maze of emotions and experiences, trying to make sense of it all. I want you to know that you're not alone in feeling overwhelmed by everything. I've been there too, grappling with the same questions about my own behaviour, my connections with others, and where I fit in this big, sometimes overwhelming, world. That's why I approach therapy in a way that's deeply

We have helped individuals, couples, and families heal, grow, and connect. As relational therapists, we appreciate the impact that our relationships have on our well-being. We see strengths and we see hope, even when it feels like there is none.

Hope is powerful and is often what helps us push forward when life’s challenges become confusing and overwhelming. Yet, hope can be difficult to find and hold on to. I cannot promise solutions, but I am committed to walking with individuals, couples, and families in their search for understanding, growth, healing, and hope. I take a holistic and collaborative approach in exploring deeper emotions and thought patterns in past and present experiences.

Attachment-based Counsellors

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
