After working 18 years in the oilfield and an uncertain economy rearing itself all around Albertans, I decided that it was time to get a different kind of education. While enjoying over 7 years of post-secondary education I learned through counselling, and making mistakes how to live in my new world. Not only as a different kind of man, but clean and sober as well (now 12 years living in complete sobriety from alcohol, nicotine, and drugs).
It feels surreal writing this note on this platform, but during periods of reflection, everything that I have been through and have overcome in my life, I see counselling as my rescuer. I can honestly say that believing that counselling works has shaped who I am today, and is undoubtedly why I chose this career.
