I am an experienced Clinical Social Worker, Naturopath & Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) who combines traditional, alternative and complementary therapies with a focus on Somatic Experiencing (SE). Develped by Dr. Peter Levine, SE is gentle, powerful & scientifically informed. It aims to resolve symptoms of stress, emotional pain, & trauma, including PTSD & other painful life events that accumulate in our bodies & nervous systems that include anxiety, depression, grief, developmental attachment trauma, guilt, shame & physical pain.
SE empowers individuals by teaching them to notice their bodily sensations and responses, fostering a sense of control over their healing process and how these events cause nervous system dysregulation, impacting their daily life especially when experiencing the painful behavioral patterns of - fight, flight, freeze, and fawn. Known as the Polyvagal Theory.
SE fosters healing through the integration of unprocessed experiences and builds nervous system capacity. Making it sought after by people who may feel tired or overwhelmed by traditional talk therapies that focus specifically on re-telling and re-living traumatic memories …for as we now know - the mind can’t heal what the body feels.
