Brain injuries or adverse life events can significantly impact the brain's ability to self-regulate and this gives rise to difficult mental states such as anxiety, depression, rage, irritability, difficulties with attention and mental focus, etc. Patients who seek treatment from me often carry labels such as bipolar disorder, personality disorder, depression, generalized anxiety disorder, etc. Regardless of labels, the core symptom that majority struggle with is extreme level of emotional arousal that the nervous system has difficulty inhibiting. They feel either "jacked" (or hijacked) or energetically/emotionally collapsed.
I assess and treat dysregulation in the autonomic and central nervous system. I target the brain directly and teach it to change its pattern of activity for more optimal and flexible functioning. Our brain gives rise to our emotional and mental states and it makes sense to target this organ directly to effect change in what we think, feel, and do.
It is often very difficult to persist and keep hope alive that anyone could possibly help you feel, think, or behave differently. The mental health field is evolving rapidly: our increasing understanding of neuroscience and the neurobiology of attachment help me tailor quite precise interventions to reduce or even eliminate very troublesome symptoms.
