I am a Registered Master of Social Work, practicing clinical Psychotherapy. I work with individuals, couples, adolescents and seniors treating issues of stress, depression, anger management, workplace issues and burnout, grief and loss, relationship issues, marital/relationship counselling, parenting issues, separation and remarriage support. Life stage transitions and the role of family of origin and of culture in communication and in the perception of situations are a special interest. We handle life with the tools with which we have learned to survive. Therapy helps us to reassess and adjust these coping strategies to our present day context.
I use a respectful, positive client-centred approach, to help people mobilize their strengths for change. Encorporating a combination of therapies, based on Attachment, Psychodynamic, and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Mindfulness, I believe that a strong client-therapist relationship is the healing relationship, that helps clients apply skills learned in therapy to their wider world.
My work in the community has included work in schools, hospitals, and family service agencies, and immigrant agencies. I have been doing Psychotherapy for 20 years. My experience includes working in a cross-cultural environment, and I enjoy learning about the differences and similarities we all bring to relationships.
