I have 22 years of experience helping people worldwide with their various life challenges such as anxiety, depression, anger issues, etc. I view therapy as an opportunity for personal growth, not just as a means of problem-solving. Many of our issues in the present stem from messages, both explicit or implied, that we learned during childhood to protect ourselves from criticism or judgement by parents, society or peer. Through therapy, we will work together to identify and uproot these messages that are holding us back. Too often these ‘messages’ turn into beliefs that lead to unconstructive defence mechanisms and coping strategies.

I work with adults and teenagers experiencing depression and anxiety. I also work with people experiencing trauma, spiritual crisis, relationship issues, loneliness, problems due to medication, and stress in many forms. A block of time in my practice is kept open daily for those in crisis, who cannot find adequate support through the public system. I also work with couples wishing to heal relational concerns, and those with an inclination towards spiritual practice/life. I am LGBTQ+ friendly and welcome people from all faith backgrounds and walks of life. Sessions are available in-person, by email, and via video.

I WELCOME ALL OF YOU who are ready to make deep and lasting changes in your life to find fulfillment, meaning, new skills and appreciation. I believe that each one of us is on a journey of recovery, healing, repairing, growing and learning how to manifest authentically and creatively. I also believe that the individual personal work we do directly impacts those in our life and our society at large. I know that we need to be connected to our families, neighbours, communities to find health. Similarly, we need to honour our land, our resources and all sentient beings. I look forward to meeting you in person or at a distance.

My ideal client is that individual who has experienced trauma in their life, be it violence, loss of a loved one, divorce or separation or death of a loved one. They feel lost and do not know how or where to begin from in the reconstruction of their lives. They so desire to live a normal life but their trauma does not permit them. They want to be free and pick up their lives from where they got off track.

Hello, I’m Grace with Diamond Psychology. I look forward to meeting you in person in Calgary, or virtually throughout Alberta, Yukon, and Nova Scotia. Have you ever wondered if you have Autism, ADHD or a learning disorder? Do you want to know if what you are suffering from is actually depression or anxiety? Are you curious if you have a mood disorder? Do you want to assess your child for a gifted school admission? If you answered yes to any of these questions, I can provide you with a detailed assessment to help you figure out what you are struggling with, and then create a plan to improve your mental health.

Trauma is a word that no one likes to hear, let alone experience. It comes in different forms: childhood, domestic violence, sexual assault, injury, our job, along with additional experiences that may come up. Facing trauma alone can be overwhelming, scary, and painful. This can cause additional physical health problems that can interfere with daily activities. You may experience nightmares, as if you are reliving the event. You may not want to leave your house for fear of it happening again. Knowing and understanding that therapy can take time and effort, I am committed to working alongside you through your healing journey.

Anger Management Counsellors

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
