I practice within an anti-oppressive framework, using a whole-person approach. I work with individuals, couples and families to enhance personal and relationship goals. Counseling should be a collaborative process, based on goals and values of compassion and authenticity. As a holistic practitioner, I use multiple approaches in therapy, believing strongly in finding a fit, which is personal and unique to each of us. I have experience working with people who have been involved in the justice and child welfare systems, experienced childhood/adult abuse, oppression, and multiple/complex trauma, have addictions, and a wide variety of other issues.
My practice involves supporting/counseling people who have experienced multiple and ongoing abuses and violence; working through and healing from trauma and its impacts. Including suicidal, depressed, sad feelings; anger; grief; and general wellbeing. I practice, in my work and life/relationships, from anti-oppressive, whole-person, and mindfulness perspectives.
Healing, goal attainment, compassionate relationships with self and others, and mindful living come when attention is practiced in all four aspects of self: emotional, spiritual, mental, and physical. I believe that counseling and any personal practice is impacted by relationship and fit; empathy, honesty, compassionate and caring practices are foundational.
