While "trauma" may just sound like an empty buzzword, the truth is that once we have experienced it, it can consume almost every component of our lives. Our once enjoyable and fulfilling experiences appear to be a distant memory completely out of reach. Everyday life is now a struggle, our day-to-day goal is merely to survive. If this sounds in line with your past or current feelings then I am eager to work with you towards improving your quality of life. I am a compassionate and goal-driven psychotherapist dedicated to achieving gradual and yet profound improvement in your thoughts, feelings and beliefs.

Now accepting clients in North York & Vaughan. I feel alone. I am scared and hurting and no one understands. I feel so overwhelmed or sometimes I feel nothing. I can't stop my intrusive thoughts. I am stuck and I don't know what to do. These are common statements that I hear from clients all the time. Stress, anxiety, depression, and emotion dysregulation are common issues that so many of us are dealing with. I believe that you feel alone and that no one can help you. You desperately want help and support. I think you are here because you want to share your story and be vulnerable. I am a safe space and I want to hear your story.

People just like you come to me struggling with relationships - you are trying to get your message across but its just not working, whatever you try you just keep getting caught in the same argument. Others come to me because depression, anxiety and stress is making it hard for them to cope. Whatever the challenge, my clients want a safe place to share their feelings - a judgement free zone, and new ways to cope with their struggles. I know being vulnerable is uncomfortable so I will give you the time you need to develop trust and feel comfortable with the therapy process.

I'm accepting new clients for online psychotherapy sessions. Appointments can be made via email. I support parents toward implementing interventions for their children who have been diagnosed with ODD, ADHD, autism, and anxiety/depression. It's important as a parent to take care of your mental health and wellbeing and to learn strategies for co-regulating with your child's big emotions.

Anger Management Counsellors

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
