Therapy for eldest daughters, by an eldest daughter.
Do you often feel responsible for everyone's emotions?
Do you default to caretaker/leadership roles in your relationships?
Do you struggle to say no, even when your calendar (and nervous system) are overloaded?
Do you feel burned out, but somehow still feel like you're not doing enough?
While not a formal diagnosis, Eldest Daughter Syndrome highlights the complex experience of firstborn daughters that shapes their self-concept and often results in chronic burnout, perfectionism, people-pleasing behaviours, and anxiety. It is a shared experience amongst many, including myself!
We'll focus on healing parentification trauma, learning to set (and actually stick to) boundaries, reducing people-pleasing behaviours and perfectionism, detaching your self-worth from your productivity, and learning to prioritize your needs over those of others. I utilize a trauma-informed, culturally-sensitive approach that's specific to your unique goals.
Whether you're an eIdest daughter or an anxious high-achieving professional that resonates with the experience, I aim to create a warm space for you to feel heard and understood. It's important to find a therapist you feel comfortable with, so I offer a free consult to decide whether we'd be a good fit. I look forward to meeting you! Take care, Angelica.
