My practice experience has included work in the areas of mental health (such as depression, anxiety, stress, and personality and mood disorders) and physical health (such as chronic pain, physical disability, and HIV/AIDS and other sexually-transmitted and blood-borne infections). I am very comfortable working with people who identify across the spectrums of gender and sexuality and who may have varying relationship styles such as monogamy, non-monogamy, polyamory, and other relationship styles. I also have expertise in substance use harm reduction and addictions counselling.
I prioritize empathy and client-centred care in therapy, seeking to collaboratively develop a personalized care plan that will work for each individual client. I emphasize relationship-building in a therapeutic context to encourage sharing of emotions and experiences to uncover issues, discuss the root and history of the problem, and find solutions.
With an anti-oppressive orientation to practice, I seek to help clients frame their experiences within society’s structures and systems and identify how to move forward. My private practice is based as Professional Psychologists and Counsellors (PPC) in Saskatoon, and I can provide therapy online via video (telehealth) and over the phone.
