Are you seeking help but find therapy can be "too mushy"? In session, I choose a professional yet casual approach, and bring in a little humor to help. As an ex-law enforcement officer, I am now privileged to help my community in a different way, and I am passionate about helping all first responders manage the inherent stressors of their profession. I believe that each person is the expert in their own life and experiences; sometimes what we need most is a supportive space and someone who feels safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental to walk with us as we make sense of things.
In practice, I recognize that some experiences—especially trauma— cannot be treated with a purely cognitive approach. True healing involves gently reconnecting with the body and working with our body’s “felt sense” (the emotional & physical imprint left by traumatic events) not just talking through experiences. I strive to help you find insight and joy.
Therapy can help us better understand how our past experiences shape our present, recognize patterns that may be keeping us feeling stuck, and work toward reducing distressing symptoms of anxiety, depression, etc. Through this process, many people develop greater self-awareness, insight, and a stronger sense of personal agency.
