About
I specialize in working with people who have experienced trauma. Trauma is defined by a distressing or disturbing experience. You do not have to be diagnosed with PTSD to have experienced trauma in your life, sometimes it presents as the feeling of being “stuck” or feeling isolated from ourselves and others. I work with people who have experienced both physical and mental traumas as well as people who have anxiety, depression as well as loss and grief. I think it is important for people to know that regardless of what your difficult experience is, no matter how “big or small” you think it might be, it is worthy of support.
My practice is trauma-focused, I use work with treatments that focus on the mind and body connection such as: EMDR, CPT, DBT, CBT and ACT. I have experience working with survivors of trauma including; sexual, physical, emotional and verbal abuse and injury, including first responders and military, as well those who experience complicated grief and loss.
I practice with the intention of making clients feel safe and stabilized in our sessions, to help them leave with a sense of accomplishment and a plan on how to move forward. My clients have used the following words to describe me: kind, compassionate, patient, objective, encouraging, funny, empathetic and human. I provide in-person and online sessions.
