About
As a Professional Art Therapist (DVATI), Registered Social Worker (RSW) and Psychotherapist, my specialty area is working with children, youth and families. My passion is to support young people as they navigate change and hardship. I equip young people with practical everyday coping strategies for their mental health, which they can use into adulthood.
My approach is a blend of art therapy, talk therapy and CBT. I focus on feelings and emotions, self compassion, thought patterns, self care, self esteem and problem solving. Quality of life is paramount and often simple changes can shift one's experience in the world. The use of art materials add comfort and take the pressure off talking.
Quote: Art therapy combines the creative process and psychotherapy, facilitating self-exploration and understanding. Using imagery, colour and shape as part of this creative therapeutic process, thoughts and feelings can be expressed that would otherwise be difficult to articulate. (CATA, 2019)
