Hi, I'm Alyssa. I have spent the last 10 years working in the mental health field supporting people with disordered eating, intimate partner violence, relationship challenges, OCD, trauma, ADHD, and Autism. I often find myself working with clients who are deep feelers, "overthinkers", empathetic, and sensitive. Many of the people I see in my practice are “self aware” and understand why they are the way they are, but struggle to make changes to unhelpful patterns or to feel different, even after therapy. Many of my clients are disabled, chronically ill, and need a therapist that understands those nuances.
I am a neurodiversity affirming therapist. I hope to help clients build up their self compassion, actually feel their feelings, work with their inner child, and process and integrate past trauma. I view symptoms as adaptations that helped us survive, and want to honour those strategies while finding new ways to cope.
The relationship between therapist and client is deeply important to me. I hope we can create a space together where you can feel affirmed, understood, celebrated, and allowed the space to be fully you.
