Hello, I’m Allison Wood, a Clinical Social Worker with close to 25 years of experience as a social worker and counselling women through life’s most pivotal moments. At Nest Therapy, I offer a warm, collaborative, and non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings—and find ways forward that feel manageable and authentic to you. I also worked for 12 years as a clinical social worker with the IWK Reproductive Mental Health Service. I was fortunate to have worked closely with psychiatric and obstetric healthcare providers during that time.
I integrate a variety of evidence-based approaches such as CBT, ACT, IPT, and Reproductive Trauma. My areas of specialization are in perinatal and reproductive mental health (pregnancy and postpartum related, fertility, PMDD) counselling parents with young children, and women experiencing life changes and symptoms related to perimenopause and menopause.
I believe therapy works best when it’s grounded in mutual trust. Nest Therapy is an inclusive and safe space where women of different ages and life experiences can explore, heal, and grow. I provide virtual psychotherapy services in both Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
