About
Dr. Aliza Friedman (she/her) is a licensed Clinical Psychologist. She is passionate about working with people with eating disorders and disordered eating on improving their relationship with food and their body. In addition to working with clients in eating disorder recovery, Dr. Friedman works with adults with anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder, difficulty managing emotions, and coping with life transitions or stressors. She also has extensive experience working with individuals with disordered eating or negative body image following bariatric (weight loss) surgery.
Dr. Friedman completed her M.A. and PhD in Clinical Psychology at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) where her research program focused on the impact of weight-based stigma on negative body image and disordered eating. She completed her doctoral residency and much of her pre-doctoral training at St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton.
Dr. Friedman fosters a collaborative, non-judgmental therapeutic alliance that prioritizes developing clients’ self-compassion and resilience as they work towards meeting their goals.
